Steering wheel mod for the PSP |
Ó
Now, according to Neubit, as it is but a work in progress, he still has yet to wire up a connection jack yet. And in case you're wondering just how holistic this mod is, unfinished as it may be, there are also the Brake and Gas pedals. Actually, this is the PS2 steering wheel hooked up to the PSP.
So, click on play and check it out for yourselves. Keep checking QJ for more updates to this project.

This was in the PSU forums yesterday afternoon. Funny how long it takes for you to report it
COME PEOPLE PLEASE IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE HES STEERING LOOK AT THE VIDEO FAKE!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
it said it was a work in progress im guessing the reason he had to turn it farther then you would on a normal ps2 is because this is a PSP NOT A PS2 and this is still a work in progress.
If he hasn't actually wired up a connection jack yet, then it technically cannot be currently connected to the controls and therefore really is not being used to steer, correct? or does that mean that he just soldered it straight on the motherboard?
I see the wires going into the buttons. It probably isn't touch sensitive for the wheel, so there are no degrees to how much you steer and hence the jerky steering motion of the driver. Man, a commercial steering wheel with a mount for the psp would be sweet though.
He needs to tweak the Potentiometer to give it a little better responce time.. and since when did AcidMods do anything fake?
what the *****?? the wheel wasnt very responsive. hes gone and *****ing recorded the game and poorly attemped to sync his actions with the game!!
nice to hear some zz top
I wouldn't say its fake.... you people calling it fake are just ignorant!
AcidMods are very reputable for doing crazy mods... and just because its AcidMods, it's not fake.
But it doesn't seem to work properly.... at all!
Woooo yeh Burnout Dominator!
Absolutely FAKE. OMG... if this is real then the response time on that steering wheel sucks... although the gamer seemed to be doing aight. I think I got the idea it was fake when he turned to the left and the car didn't move. I think next time I"m going to run a video of me playing a game on my PSP with no hands and send it in.. Hopefully I make the front page too.
Theyr mods are all real.
"according to Neubit, as it is but a work in progress, he still has yet to wire up a connection jack yet. "
awesome mod !
A cool concept, however, doesn't this mod kind of defeat the purpose of the 2nd "P" in "PSP"?
Then you just connect it at home via the connection jack and disconnect when your on the go. But until the wheel is able to produce touch sensitive feedback, its going to be like in the video... you have to jerk and it goes from not registering to being all or nothing sensitive. IE hard to use.
WORK IN PROGRESS!!! :) dont know if it will be easy for us to do though.
how many times do you go outside with the psp? Still its kinda like a proof of concept mod.
well, if you actually look closely, the gameboy is black and white. The newer gameboys are able to display at least 52 colors, and they run on electricity. In this movie, a solar panel is used. See? So, a steering wheel wouldn't work. Sorry, it's fake.
wow, you are a tard. Hey everyone, let's flame this retard.
it would have been better if he installed a motion detect chip so u can use the actual psp as a wheel......
LOL your right its so fu-cking fake
For those of you wondering how was this achieved, well what Nuebit did was tap into the Potentiometer inside the racing wheel and wire it directly into the psp analog nub there is a slight problem with the pontentiometer as the resistence range is to high meaning you have to turn the wheel alot before the resistance is low enough to send a response to the psp. We are in the process of looking for a better potentiometer to provide a much faster response time we are thinking a 1K Ohm pot is the ideal range but we won't know untill we get one

Everyone please read..
its not fake becuse the loading light on the left side is not blinking and its is sodered to the the steering and gas buttons on the psp
ITS ACID MODS U DUMB F*CK THEY DONT LIE WHEN THEY RELEASE A VID F A MOD
I am from acidmods and trust me, we dont make fake stuff, its all real.
just take a look at our site.
It's guys like these that keep the PSP alive and kicking great work. I think I see the potentiometer taped to the wheel in the video, but that could just be me.
