I wouldn't be suprised if there will be FW version with 8GB+ support next year (or in 2008) and as it goes for PSP2, there's huge chance that they will use PRX's there - that means some PRX's could be converted to PSP1 ? neat theory :P but hell we all would take PSP2 probably, wouldn't we ?

i dont' know, if you've ever used 'hi speed' memory in something not as high speed usually it simply runs at the lower speed without complaining. if it still uses the same set of shiny bronzed bits then it's possible to make it work. the problem is the psp's memory format thing, basically it doesn't support volumes of over 4 gig. so yeah, a major firmware upgrade would have to be made, or some seriously clever prx work. would be nice to have 32gig on my duo (could have every final fantasy on there!) but the cost will be astronomical.

ppl calm the ***** down, you know nothing about marketing. the price of a product is NEVER just a direct multiplication of lower versions to create the equivalent of what the new product is. and plus this is completely new tech being used in these memsticks. yes that will influence the priceing. but the main thing is how much it costs sony and sandisk to actually MANUFACTURE the sticks. then they just inflate the price slightly. we will just have to wait and see (and plus prices for memsticks are dropping monthly and very steady rates, its easy to grab a 4gb now for about 8gb where at first when it came out it costed about $300. but another main point people are missing. Two competitor flash memory making companies (well technically sony dusnt make then, samsung dus, just with sony's name on the case) are merging (merging isnt the right word, but ica nt think of another one) to create a joint project. that is great news

Well I have 250 GB hardrive on my psp :P I am useing Devhook VSHEX MOD FOR 2.71 and running UsbHostfs on the computer then i have a wifi usb cable connect on my psp i can basecly use my hardrive on my PC for my psp Wirelesly :P

I for one would have no qualms about buying a $190 dollar 32 G maximum Pro-HG. Sounds a lot better than paying $200+ for a memory stick and $249 for a PSP, when I could just go out and buy a PS2 for $129 and a video iPod with like 30G memory for $249. So....sounds good, but I'll wait until the price comes out for both the Pro-HG media and the PSP( if they choose to make one).

theres a lot of question re: price, so here my 2 pence on it. Usually, the price is dictated by takeon, ie how many they will sell and consequently how many are manufactured. If the demand for this is going to be very high (and with PMPs and Cameras on the increase you'd think so) then I'd expect a price of around £500 ish on release, with a drop to maybe £300 within a year as manufacturing gets more efficient and more devices are capable of exploiting it, and thats only if its released with regular cards maye only reaching 10gb. But thats just for poor saps who happen to reside in the UK (like me!) who seem to get charged a lot more for no reason (oh, and nowadays we hav to wait 6months as well!). In the states, Id suppose approx $300 down to $200 - $175. Remember, its no good releasing a product that no one can afford. Anyway, this is my best guess at this early stage

You can already download A FEW stuff. Space is not the problems for developers. Even 32MB memory sticks can hold extra content for games. I'm really sad about the fact that not many games have downloadable content though... I agree with you about the price of the stick.

Speed

Speed is limited by hardware. If the hardware that currently exists inside your psp only supports a certain speed, thats what you'll end up with. USB 1.1 will not run USB 2.0 devices at full speed, keep that in mind.

the day i bought my PSP (black friday) i bought a 2GB for 39.99 so i really dont care. We all know sony's happy as hell cause for some reason PSP's are starting to sell a lot more (hmmm? maybe its because the hackers and the progammers are just so giving? j/w) and on top of that they're having (possibly) between 300,000 to 700,000 more PS3's manufactured before 2007. The problem is with this new memory stick is...... 1) Firmware update. The PSP will need a new way to read the memory stick. This will be solved when the new firmware comes out. 2) Price. Who wants to pay 300 dollras JUST to get a dam memory stick. I would pay 150 dollars for a 10 or 20 gig, but 32 is WAY to much.

Sony's new direction with PSP and PS3 is towards online marketing. They believe that they can get people to pay for PS1 games, whole movies, music etc through their upcoming online stores. The higher the capacity of available memory storage devices, the more 'empty space' they believe their customer base will want to fill.
