Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced 2 new PSP packages, which contain 1GB Memory Stick PRO DUO instead of the original 32MB one. The new names of the packages contain “GIGA”, which hints the included 1GB MS. The release date of the new packages is November, 17th. The price will be 31,290 JPY (around $270 USD).

The new packages will include accessories: a 1GB MS PRO DUO which will be released on Oct. 27th, an AC adapter, a battery pack, a remote controller & headphone, a pouch, a piece of cloth, a USB cable and a stand.

According to the current colors of the PSP, there will be 2 new packages. The one with black PSP will be PSP-1000G1, whereas the one with ceramic white PSP will be PSP-1000G1CW.

Compared to the old packages, the hand strap is missing from the list. DonÂ’t worryÂ… maybe. Because Sony has brought us more optionsÂ… but not for free.

Here are 3 new hand straps:

Urban Line: Made of leather and metal plate. Price: 3,150 JPY (around $27 USD).

Elegant Line: Made of cloth and metal plate. Price: 2,100 JPY (around $18 USD).

Casual Line: Made of cloth and leather plate. Price: 1,050 JPY (around $9 USD).

Also 2 neck straps that we have never seen before:

Elegant Line: Made of cloth and metal plate, the same material with the hand strap. Price: 2,415 JPY (around $21 USD).

Casual Line: Made of cloth and leather plate, the same material with the hand strap. Price: 1,365 JPY (around $12 USD).

There is no plan about the Urban Line for neck strap yet.

The North American release date has not been revealed yet.

Agree with everything b18 said. This is a BIG smack in the face for EU buyers of the PSP. Thanks a lot Sony. However, will the firmware shipped in the new packs be homebrew compatible..more likely they would have firmware 2.50 wouldn't they?

Cmon sony.. you should have released the 1gig with the value pack for $270.. i would have waited for that, AND it would have 2.5. Everyone gets their wish (exept me who doesnt get homebrew...)

~$271. That's cheap!

Guess they did eventually drop some prices; bundled with a 1gb MP Pro Duo.

WTF Sony?!

Some of us paid close to $400 of that **** back in April...

Wow...that sucks. I mean, for us that paid full price for a white strap and 32mb card package. Looks like it comes with a usb cable as well from the picture. Oh well, I'm sure it comes with v2.5 installed. But I do wonder if you get the fixed button config from the white psp release with this new system release.

Kevin, I'm not so sure it's that fixed, I own a Ceramic White model and the button still presses in one side more than the other :(

Personaly I find the UK black models have better square buttons.

Wow, that's dirt cheap! It's less than EUR 230,- , and with the value pack being sold for 249,- EUR in Europe, looks like the kind of bargain that will make me order my second PSP - a white one with no need to run homebrew - as soon as some peep will come over from Japan.

This just pisses me off. I bought my PSP for about $230 at the beginning of October. NOW they come out with a great package like this. And here i have been, saving for a 1GB msd, when they release this package with all of the things that SHOULD have come with the PSP in the first place. Good job sony, thanks for making those who bought earlier feel like fools. There should be some sort of deal for those who already have their PSPs.

I wouldn't be surprised if sony released a PSP HDD Bundle (A Value pack with a HDDd in the PSP as data)

Exactly what I was thinking, then I looked up and saw your post. I bet it's version 2.01 or 2.5!!! I am almost sure that they will be upgraded to a recent firmware! We won't know until someone buys one! Oh well, I already bought my two...

Arg... it kinda pisses me off because I paid 250 dollars for a value pack, and the only accessory I occaisonally use out of that value pack is the remote.

I wish sony would've brought out a $199 basic pack in the U.S. because most of the stuff in there is crap... guess they're realizing this. Now they're basically insulting us by adding a 1gig stick, usb cable, and a few other things that would've been nice the first time around for a cheaper price than the crappy American value pack.

But then, Sony tries to screw over consumbers as much as possible, while they think they are benefitting them. Oh well, at least I know when my PSP breaks in the near future (which it probably willl... it's a sony product) I can have peace of mind that the new psp will come with a gig stick.

This just means the price of the 1gb stick will go down. But these psp will come with 2.5 probaly and no iso's or homebrews. YET. Why cant sony be like Microsoft and embrace homebrews.

You know what? Every single one of you who has the money to buy two PSPs, or whose parents are wiling to do so, just so they can have one at the current firmware and one at 1.50:

Eat ****, you useless ****s. I get so ****ing sick of seeing you talk about having FIVE 1GB MS PRO DUOS AND THREE PSPS OMG!. Your parents are doing you a disservice if they're buying all this for you. Not only are they promoting habits that take away from having a real life or getting exercise, but they're teaching you that you can get whatever you want. It's digusting.

Well I can see how everyone is a bit pissed that we all got junk w our psp's, but this was inevitable. I for one am happy bc gig stick prices will drop now. Do I regret buyin my psp at launch? Hell no! I've played mine to death even with the lack of killer games. Come next week when I've got GTA on my nice worn in PSP life is gonna be great. Time to get back to my emulators.

p.s. Am I the only one who actually likes the black psp better? haha

finally some price reductions, as far as being mad about paying more with the older value pack im smart enough to kno those who buy first, pay more its the game system rule of thumb ^^ too bad its most likely a 2.5 package with a reduced price to get everyone on it. but oh well.

It's Sony's pre-emptive strike against the X-box 360. Hopefully, prices of memory stick will drop and capacity increase. And that of the present value pack will probably drop too. But who need a $9 or higher lanyard? Does anyone really uses the included one? Also neckstrap?!? Who wear a heavy PSP on their neck?

NIGHTROSE--
Are you upset because you can't buy 2 PSP's (like me) or you can't buy 5 Memory sticks? I am 24 years old with a great job, so I bought myself 2 psp's and 2 Gig-sticks. It seems like someone here is a HATER!!! And perhaps other's who's parents buy this for them are paid and they like to see their child with all the hot **** that they would have wanted. So don't hate...Get your money up so that you can throw it away like some of us!

Don't get mad because you are broke!

Any parent who buys TWO of the SAME video game system for their child needs psychological treatment. It's lunacy.

It's rough eh? I bought a psp (basic pack, no games or anything) $320 with taxes, then got myself a 1 gig sandisk ms. $171 with taxes. I shelled out $491 Canadian. But I suppose price drops were bound to happen eventually. Nice package tho.

Way to go SONY... just goes to show you've ripped off all the people in the EU that bothered to wait for the September 1st release date... now your selling with a extra bundle for GBP 214... as most places are still flogging it for GBP 200 yet again rip us off why don't you!!!

sorry SONY forgot you have no control over how much your stuff is sold for!!! UNBLOCK ALL THE PEOPLE YOU BANNED FROM IMPORTING!!!

I agree with soopergooman, we did not have to buy the psp systems when they first came out, and anybody who plays video games would know a game or game system's price goes down over time, especially when there is more competition out there.

I bought my psp value pack for $350, but I feel no need to complain, at least I was able to use it to keep myself entertained longer and impress a few people with it before it became popular and common in my area.

I will definitely be purchasing a second psp system for spare parts (I intend to fix my psp by myself, a lot of the parts can be removed with regular household tools), and now that the price has come down and a 1 gig memory stick is included with the psp I can rest assured that I will require less money for both of these things.

Hah, glad I waited. I was going to buy one the 25th (when GTA comes out), but now I'm going to wait!

And hey, don't be mad at Sony. Like was said, everyone knows the price of video game systems goes down over time. Don't be pissy just because you didn't want to wait.
