Shots of the PSP Slim's 1Seg TV Tuner |
Ó
So from what can be discerned, the 1Seg Tuner will have its very own icon in the PSP XrossMediaBar and on entering the program, a menu displaying all the available channels will appear on the right. The full screen option is available, and (if it's safe for us to assume) can be brought up by the R button.
The Tuner will only work on the PSP Slim (or PSP 2000, but Slim sounds more familiar) and will launch in Japan late next month. More updates on this as they get fed into our own QJ tuners.

if their twisting your arms to go out and buy a
new one, get over your selves.
I know what it is, people are just pissed that
Japan gets all the cool stuff years before US
does, if we ever get it at all.
We don't even have an NTFC GoCAM yet but everybody else gets a GoCAM for their region.
SONY must hate Americans though, I mean think
about it, a lot of stuff gets released to others long
before it's released to the US.
Ok, so to rap it up... Japan gets ChottoShot and Digital
Broadcast TV receiver adaptor. Americans get... FAT LIP!

The Slim looks just like the original but
thinner. If the new PSP is ugly, it's just
as ugly as the original then. You make
no sense with your baited breath.

Same system used in the mobile phone, pda, electronic dictionary etc.. here.
So I doubt they will make different version of the system, as it is not deployed every where.
Korea is more like to get it and they use T-DMB standard.

What's the *****ing problem with Sony!!!!!!!

We have DVB-T (Yes, in the US) which can use Freeview, and thats nice and all, but the PSP doesnt have a tuner for that. I would like to see somebody find a way to make a DVB-T receiver work on a PSP, that would be sweet. Because honestly, TV on a psp would be really nice, I dont like locationfree player because being by a hotspot is such a hassle. And the price for DVB-T portable devices is around $300, why not just find a way to get it working on a PSP, the tuners cost $20. And yes, some of them will actually connect to a PSP USB Port, its just a matter of getting it running.

that said, sony pretty much has no choice but to release it for both PSP editions, otherwise, they'd need to create 2 different sets of firmware updates, and risk people downloading the wrong one and bricking their psp's, they're probubly going to wait untill they're sure the vast majority of gamers have the new psp sllim, then release it for the older psp model.....
