RVI announces 3D screen for PSP |

The attachment is called the V-Screen. It uses proprietary optical tech that doesn't need any software or electronics to render what is described as a "fully 3 dimensional experience" on the PSP. You just slap this baby on and you're good to go.
“The innovation uses special optical components in unconventional ways,” states Eamonn Ansbro, an Optical Engineer who is co-Executive Director of RVI. “No software, electronics or headgear is required. Nonetheless, the optical results are astonishing.”
RVI plans to kick off the V-Screen's launch in time for the holidays. Kinda skeptical about this, though. Stuff like this seems like a sure-fire way to give me a headache. What about you guys? You interested?

3d is created by 2 images taing from two different viewpoints
glasses are normally worn, in order to split the 2 separate images into 1 for each eye
so basically inorder for 3d to work, you must beable to let the brain precieve a different image in each eye
i have heard of a portable 3d tv which did not require glasses, theres several techniques which can be used, and more being found. some may have saw the mind reader which actually reads what freq your eyes are seeing at and then images are set at different freq on screen
so if your eye focuses on an image it can be interpeted
this however would not work the same, point is, new ways are being discovered, dont be too critical over it
also an image would have to be split into 2 images on screen, hence require extra software
basically the best way to describe this is, dolby virtual surround sound, just not quite the same as a 9.1/7.1 surround sound system
dont be too skeptical, but i too doubt this will create desired effect
what i would ask though, is theres a few 3d usb glasses on the market which work well, we may be capable of getting this too work with the psp, ofcourse it would be homebrew only, or quite an interesting hack (cheat device)

In other words, if they can't get Sony on their side to add something to the firmware for compatibility across all existing games, this is doomed to fail.

could also create some sort of parallax effect that could be perceived as 3d.

you guys are too sceptical. Haven't you seen those cool bowls that are mirrired on the inside? You drip a penny into the bowl and it looks like a 3D hologram, magnified projection of that penny floating on top of the opening.
I find it very easy to believe that 2 mirrors at slightly different angles with 30~60fps animation can make your brain percieve a 3d image.

as someone who loved the effect in mga2 i cant wait for more games to use this, i dont know why more didnt use the solid eye

I've been working on a 3D dungeon crawler in Lua scripts that requires Solid Eye. It's still a ways to go but once the wireframes are done I'll post up a demo.

one layer with mirrors which would cause the blurred 2 images, and then the next layer would be the glasses that puts it together so it appears 3D.
I think you all are jumping the gun on this one. Wait and see =]
