FM ModulatorWe all agree that the best travel companion is your PSP. What if you're the designated driver and you can't even lift a finger off the wheel? What then? Just to get a sense of your PSP being by your side, a good idea would be to hook it up to your car stereo. So everybody can enjoy music, movies and games stored in your PSP.

What you have to do is set your car stereo to the frequency that is also on the modulator, usually it's in the area of 88.7 or 89.1. Plug the RCA connectors from the cable into the RCA jacks on the modulator. Now take the headphone end of the cable into the PSP and there you have it.

One example of such FM modulators is Pelican's PSP FM Modulator that has full channels from 88.1 to 107.9. It sells at Gamestop for $29.99.

Wow

How many times do these FM transmitters have to be posted? I got mine on clearance at Wal-Mart for five bucks and it can charge my PSP too.

Don't Waste Your Time...

The Pelican FM Transmitters are absolute garbage. I bought one from EB, fired it up, found that there wasn't a single station that would come in clearly, and then busted off the headphone jack on the stupid thing as soon as I tried to rip it's useless corpse off my PSP's body. Took the thing back to EB for my $40.00 back. Always be EXTREMELY careful which ones of these you buy, and avoid the Pelican ones at all costs! --Databoy2k

OMG BACON BBQ PANTS

Yeah, these things are as outdated as morse code. Most of them IMO don't worth worth a crap either. Wal-Mart sells a Durabrand AM/FM head unit for $27 that has an 1/8th inch audio in jack. Crystal clear sound, and no one will try to steal your stereo. Coz well, it's a Wal-Mart brand. Ok, yeah, unless you live in Richmond Virginia... then they'll steal the NOS stickers off your 10 speed to make their ghetto cars run faster.

What we need

Is a plug in headphone amp. I need more volume (I'm getting older and (35)) and I can't hear my music over my kids playing thier gba's. Thats sad. Later, dabone

in uk

over here in the uk there gona be a law passed so that people need a liscence for these kinda things because its almost the same as having your own radio station but with a 20 meter radius or whatever.

That sucks. Yeah they're getting stricter over here too in the US on radio stations. I hope they don't come to that over here. What are they going to do next make you have a license for a baby monitor. I don't want to be a communist slave. Thats how it's beginning to be.

Most useless thing ever

am i the only one who thinks this thing is useless? it only works by a stereo, so why buy something for $30 when you could just use the stereo for free... and have higher quality, higher volume sound? and because it is made by pelican you know that it will be unbelieveably cheap and plasticy, and that it will break like 3 days after you buy it... don't get it

@ #7 "dull"

You may have had A FM Modulator for the PSP, but you obviously DONT have this one as its not relesed yet. Old news? No, this is a different / new product.

Pelican is still releasing this garbage?

Every Pelican product i've tried is faulty, i've bought N64 memory cards made by them and it always resulted in corrupted data or not saving properly, i don't expect this to be any different. IMO just pick up one of those tape deck converters for about $5. granted, you still have a tape deck in your car. Sure it looks ghetto, but youre getting something more dependable (as long as it isnt made by pelican)

Clearup

Just for future reference, I don't believe the term 'FM modulator' is appropriate. FM stands for 'Frequency Modulator' and adding a second modulator is sort of redundant. Just F.Y.I.

lol

hey #8 your darn rite.... them car charger i got, it barely fit the frigging power jack... when i took it out, it almost messed up my psp... ill never use that again unless is REALLY urgent, but anyone got recommendation on a good FM transmitter? or modulator or w/e you call it lol

If you buy this you are a goof

This looks like its only compatible with a PSP Why not just buy a normal transmitter that will not only work with your psp but with any other headphone jack as well. It will also be a lot better than this pelican bull*****

this thing doesnt work

I got 1 from eb in Aus and it worked for all of 3 seconds then it turned off for 3 seconds then on then of and on and off. It was very painful to listen to. I emailed the manufacturer and they said it never happened before. I exchanged it for another and it happened again. Tried it on different psp's and different firmware. It was a Powerwave model. It was just what I wanted but DIDN'T WORK :-(
