4GBThis is one of the best deal on a four gig we've seen so far. If you are looking for some more space for your music, movies, homebrew, and pictures (who uses a PSP for pictures anyway?), then this is the route for you. $104.99 is affordable, and for once you can pay less than the cost of your entire PSP just to get memory for it! I remember back when 1.51 had just come out, I went to Best Buy and paid $124.99 for a simple 1 gig stick, which at the time seemed perfect.

This is just one of the many bargain deals involving the Memory Stick Pro Duo. If you could recall, we earlier reported about AntiRebate selling the same product for $104.99

Back in the Swaploit days, when you needed two memory sticks in order to launch a homebrew file, everyone complained about the high price of memory for the PSP. I had to send my friend off to Wal Mart to get me a $40.00 128 MB stick to launch my first piece of homebrew, the day 1.5 was hacked. Nowadays you can easily get a 512 MB stick for $40.00 or less.  Indeed times are changing. Anyway, thanks to manaox2 for the heads up!

» not that great

This is after a mail in rebate.

I suggest using newegg.com.

they have the 4gb pro duo's for $110 with $4.99 3-day shipping.

by milo22 - 2006-09-01 07:41
» @4

If they ever get it in stock.

» @5

hmmmm, it was in stock not too long ago. it must of sold out recently.

I don't really care since I already have a 4gb gaming card, and I'm happy with it, even though it was a little more at $130.

i know, i don't know anyone who uses their psp's for pictures. I guess this feature may be only really used for the upcoming camera attachment.

Just ordered one, great deal.

by manaox2 - 2006-09-01 09:37
» MATT DAMON!

Yeah. I have never heard of a fake Sandisk Ultra II before. Ordered this as soon as I saw it today. It's from Fry's online site, so it's pretty legit. Also, yes this is the biggest and fastest stick out there for 1.5 psps. :)

by NavS - 2006-09-01 10:27
» Pictures?

I use it for pictures....With a camera attachment maybe more....

by bazald - 2006-09-01 10:37
» Recommend Against

IIRC, Ultra II memory is very good for taking photos due to the low latency of the writing process, but it has a lower throughput, making it unideal for a multimedia device such as a PSP.

Actually, I find that the system works amazingly well for scanned comics. You can fit three or four graphic novels on a 512 mb card.

by peewee - 2006-09-01 13:02
»

if your talking about viewing the comics through the psp then i disagree. the psp takes too long to refresh the images, leaving them blurred and smeared for like a second then clearing up again. so while viewing comics, even the slightest movement blurs up the screen..

I have the regular (blue) sandisk 4gb and FW 1.5. It does indeed hold 4gb of data. I bought it on eBay a couple of weeks ago for $130 (yes, it was a legit stick). I almost got it filled, though :(

» @16

@16 Where did you get your information from?

throughput = amount of information / time:

Sandisk Memorystick Pro Duo: Transfer Speed: 15Mbps = 1.9 MB/s (Note that Mbps = Mega BITS per second and MB/s is Mega BYTES per second, 1 Byte = 8 Bits)

http://sandisk.com/Products/Item(1057)-SDMSPD-1024-SanDisk_Mobile_ Memory_Stick_PR O_Duo_1GB.aspx

Sandisk Ultra2 Memorystick Pro Duo: Read: 9MB/sec, write: 10MB/sec

http://sandisk.com/Products/Item(1236)-SDMSPDH-4096-SanDisk_Ultra_I I_Memory_Stick_ PR O_Duo_4GB.aspx

Only the rapid cards have a even higher throughput of 15 MB/s, but they are just available with 1GB capacity.

» NEWEGG=NO REBATES

I would rather buy through newegg too but they are currently out of stock. You can leave your e-mail with them and they will notify you when it is back in stock. I hate dealing with rebates. Companys use rebates because only about 35% actually get paid out. Unfortunatly I spent many years in retail and heard this from many company reps.

i just recieved my 4gb memory stick which i bought from ebay new at $89 with shipping world wide since i live in switz! u should check it out its original from sony

» WOW

NICE PRICE

i s'pose the only difference w/this and the Datel 4gb harddrive is probably the minihdd is more stable

by Catalyst - 2006-09-02 04:21
» @24

Why would the Datel be more stable? Never really looked into it, but isn't it a mini hard drive, i.e. microdrive? The damn drives that will die out on you very easily and which I've got a couple of dead ones sitting on my desk right now? Solid state is a much more stable alternative, especially in a portable device.

@22. that is NOT true. I have submitted every rebate for every single item I have purchased so far and have gotten back rebate checks from companies, INCLUDING sandisk.

@28 That's the regular speed one, not the Ultra.

It seems like the one at Outpost doesn't include the adapter, or am i just wrong...

$130 is the correct price
