Noobz blog update: info for eBay buyers of "PSP Unbricking Batteries" |
Ó
Attention, smart shoppers! The Noobz Team is stopping at nothing to keep you guys informed. And there's no excuse now that you shouldn't be. As the homebrew team has predicted, some "enterprising" individuals would take the advantage of their Pandora's Battery ultimate unbricker and offer it for sale online.
Noobz has updated their site in the hopes of disseminating information to eBay shoppers. The one thing they want to promulgate to the world (although in the PSP community, we pretty much know it for truth already) is that what these "PSP Unbricking Battery" sellers online don't want you to know that it's actually available for free. We've known about it since day one. But this serves as yet another stern reminder to the uninformed.
In their blog update, Noobz has released some basic facts for all eBay shoppers who might be tempted to purchase the Unbricking Batteries. Here's the 411 on Pandora's Battery:
- The Pandora Battery is actually a combination of specially-modified PSP battery, and specially-modified PSP pro duo memory stick.
- It allows you to unbrick, or downgrade, ANY PSP, regardless of current firmware, as many times as you like.
- Although you can convert the Pandora Battery back to an ordinary battery, you're recommended to use a spare battery, as it is more convenient and flexible.
- To make a Pandora Battery, you need a homebrew-capable PSP. If you don't have a homebrew-capable PSP, you should find a friend who does, or use the information below to find someone who can make a battery for you, for free.

if you see somthing like this on ebay then right a comment about it so other ebay users can see it... let them know you can make one for free dont let ppl waste there money
What if somebody didn't have access to a friend that has a PSP that can make the battery? You're merely paying for the convenience. I can see why there would be an uproar about selling something for profit, but honestly, if you don't know someone, the only other way to get this is to buy a new PSP and pray you can downgrade it to a CFW or 1.5 so you can make this battery from it... and what's cheaper, a 50 dollar battery or a new PSP?
Paying for the convenience or not, you're buying a memory stick that contains copyrighted files. It's *illegal.*
I think pretty much all the news here is in one way or the other 'illegal'. So, if you are that opposed to this, aren't you pretty much opposed to everything such as homebrew and such? And that begs the question...why are you here if you think stuff like this is illegal? Cuz, I am assuming that you aren't like the rest of us who enjoy the homebrew software and news like this.
The N00bz team specifically made it without ANY files copyrighted by Sony. That's why it isn't even a complete copy of 1.5, but an open-source subset. Read before you post!
LAWLZORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Freeplay is right. The files thats on the memory stick are illegal. The n00bz team who provided the files to make the pandora battery are NOT illegal but the files that are MADE by you ARE. If it wasnt illegal then the n00bz team could just simply give the ready made files to you easily... Think again *****
I only know of one other person that has a PSP and even though they do have a PSP with CFW they live 2hrs away from me. So if I did need my PSP unbricked or if I had a PSP that wouldn't downgrade with Lumines then I might get this. Just because something is free on the internet doesn't mean that everyone can use it. Yes it may contain "illegal" Sony files but that is easily fixed by just leaving out the 1.5 update and giving instructions on where to download it and where to put it on the memory stick.
Atleast pspunbricker.com is doing the right thing by giving back to the creators of the Application, unlike the ebayers who are trying to profit from it. i think that they are only selling the battery as well, then you still need to do the whole memory stick thing so isn't it kind of a waste to buy just the battery? cheers
In the Florida city where I live, it's illegal to spit on the sidewalk. It's also illegal to be out after 11pm. It's also illegal to drive faster than 55 miles per hour on most roads here. In most places in the USA, it's illegal to have oral sex. If you go outside at 11:30pm, spit on the sidewalk, get into your car, drive 56 miles per hour on the way over to your girlfriend's house and let her give you head while you unbricked your PSP, you'd be like the rest of us: criminals sometimes. Nobody can obey every law, and not every law is fair or timely. Live a little.
if u buy those batteries offline ur stupid i have two batteries so i am happy
It does indeed contain decrypted and modified copyrighted files. This is the sort of thing that got Booster's site closed down. Removing the copyrighted files makes the stick useless. And you can't simply remove / re-add the UPDATE.PBP.
Uh, so what? That's like selling a CFW psp on ebay, and then people complaining that you can get CFW on your own psp for free!
Uh, so what? That's like selling a CFW psp on ebay, and then people complaining that you can get CFW on your own psp for free! ^---- WTF is this in my comment box --EXTER
Charging $50 and not explaining how to do it for free PSPUNBRICKER.COM is a fly by night lame website.
What I don't understand is can you use this to put 1.5 on a TA-082. I was under the impression that a TA-082 needed to be patched first which is why SCE always put 2.71 on PSP's when unbricking now. Just curious that is all, I have a mate with a TA-082, last thing I was to do is kill it.
What's the use in complaining about it? It isn't like there's anything that you can do about it. Yea you can report them to eBay but how long are you going to monitor the auctions? Once the new dies down on this then people will forget about it and stop doing searches for the "unbricking battery" on eBay and then the sellers will be back to selling the things. And yes the chip has "illegal" files on it but if you go to sell.com you can buy like 25 DVDs full of PSP isos for less than $30 and no one seems to stop them. I say live and let live, if someone wants to spend $60 or more bucks on something that others can get for free then let them. Maybe next time they will do their research and know better.
I bet you're one of those sellers
above me is one of them ;)
not neccessary stupid, some ppl don't know anyone with a homebrew able psp. N don't want to go through the hastle, n some ppl can't get it to install propertly, but besides that yes they are.
You may want to get your facts straight before you speak. I have never sold anything on eBay and even if I did I wouldn't try and profit from someone else's work that was available for free. I 'm just saying that if someone is going to do this sort of thing there is really nothing you can do about it. All the complaining and reporting you do isn't going to change anything. You can report one person but three others will take their place.
hey i got my psp and all but i don't have the files lyk msipl.bin and all that can some please mail it to me at clinton_360@hotmail.com i would be very thankful i dnt have any of my friends that have 1.50 or CF on their psp and mine is bricked so can som1 hear my call and give me those files thankz cya around and can som1 please tell mi what type of menu that guy has it looks like the iphone thankz heaps PSP ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
If I didn't have a homebrew PSP then I would certainly buy one online, so I don't see this as a bad thing. Most of the people buying it, (hopefully), are online buying it because they don't have access to a homebrew capable PSP.
please read this, and you'll be happy you did. there are companies paying $1-$40 on average per survey! just join www.c4shcrate.com259295 (replace the 4 with an A), and join. Email me at uber1337h4xx0r@gmail.com should you have any questions!
maybe if you learned to type in english
Do you miss Dark_Alex? Do you want him back in the PSP homebrew scene and want him to continue making custom firmwares? If so, then sign this petition! http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/BringBackDarkAlex If I get enough signatures, I will send it to Dark_alex himself!
That's really gonna help. Does bold work?
Yeah, we get it. If people didn't get it reading QJ the first time, I doubt they'll get it the second. THE PANDORA BATTERY SET IS NOT FREE. ONLY THE PANDORA SOFTWARE. Spare batteries ARE NOT FREE. Memory stick PRO Duo's ARE NOT FREE. I will be selling Pandora's myself, and I feel no shame. In Noobz's defense, I will be noting that the software is free, linking back to Noobz's site, and donating a percentage to Noobz, and I'm sure a lot aren't doing that. Also, I won't be charging 400 bucks. Just around 80 depending on the battery and stick I choose.
