New Passport To... PSP commercial

When Passport To... was first featured around a month ago, people went like "Oh, this is cool!" Unfortunately for SCEE and Lonely Planet, the "oohs" and the "aahs" did not quite translate to huge revenues. As a result, the two are trying to improve sales by employing various marketing strategies.

One of which is a string of commercial advertisements for the struggling product. The first two versions, like Passport To..., wasn't received well. Today, we came across a different ad. The effort is there, that much we can say. We were wondering though what you guys think about this.

Passport To... is an non-game interactive travel guide for PSP. It features immediate and reliable travel information on form of film, audio, photography and others.

2 S's in "Passport." Fix the title.

» NICE!

really cool feature!

Meh... I'm hoping that the GPS will have downloadable map files. That'd make things easier for travelers. Ya get to a new place, download the map for the town and use the PSP like it's freaking OnStar.

by seref - 2006-09-26 08:21
» I am not sure ....

I've seen one about London - it's quiet missing one thing I would love to have - details map of whole London & surroudings, unfortunatly :(

by KaVaYo - 2006-09-26 08:32
» The best feature

I think the best feature it has is the common talking translation. In passport to London, you can translate, for instance, that you aren't feeling good and need to see a doctor to many languages with the speaking included. Nice!

Also the subway maps and guided journeys made this title a must have for all PSP's travellers. Recommended.

soooo....

who ties a bear to his bike,??

nobody does...???

hmm weird, isnt it??

by soopergooman - 2006-09-26 08:50
» marketing strategies huh

They should bundle this with talkman for psp then when you want to ask anything you'll be able to convey your messages to the people instead of just showing a pic or a video. This seems like a goodidea but why only in Europe? This seems unfair. why does everyone else besides Canada and The U.S.A. get this?????

by Strider - 2006-09-26 09:02
» hmmm

hmmm i get the idea but the commercial is weird and really boring.....

better get a new marketing agency

» Available now

I saw this in Virigin in Piccadilly Circus (London) last weekend.

by wonderer - 2006-09-26 09:09
» different

at leat the ad makes you think... like what did they use the psp for in which situation... and then you move back and start to think again to prepare for the next psp.... :) Nice idea.

I would definately buy this instead of a book... as I carry my PSP with me when I travel anyway. I wonder how well does the battery last in those adventures... I mean of course you can switch it to power-save, but how often do you need to check the map during a city walk, is it too much or does it last a day or so?

by bigshynepo - 2006-09-26 12:45
» "its-been-done' directing.

I had this idea before PSP launch but these guys did a piss poor job for the biggest entertainment/electronics company and the biggest travel guide company in the world.

When they intergrate the GPS then, and only then, will this software have some promise.

Sony would never come up with the kind of ideas I have for this type of product so maybe I'll still develop mine some day....

» That was...

...interesting. It certainly would make me stop and wonder what's going on if I saw the commercial on TV or something. But I don't generally travel many places I don't know my way around anyways, or without someone else who knows where they're going. Might come in handy if I ever did, though.

i hope this video gets release in the USA so more chicks could

get white psp where i llive....it'lll probably stop them from asking me "why are u always on your PSP?"

by whoelse - 2006-09-27 04:47
» why

confusing ad

by cool - 2006-09-27 08:01
»

ui thin thats beat, if you decide to go visit places like that, but think about it, do most traveling people have psps, do they have time to use them??

and people who dont travel sure as hell wont buy a psp just for that...

its one of those, "its good its there evan if i dont use it" kinde of thing which can be usefull in some cases

by retro - 2006-09-27 11:52
