Well folks, what began a week ago is officially
drawing to a close, after all the entries were tallied (a huuuuge massive
ton of entries, thanks to all who sent in answers) and counted, we finally have a winner. A big thanks to
the folks at Neuros, they've been really kind sponsoring two
wonderful contests in a row with sucessively better prizes. Anyway, I
suppose it's time to get to the meat of the matter and let you guys
know who the winner is eh?
The winner of the Neuros Trivia Contest is... (cue drumroll) Manaox 2!
An email's already winging its way over to you requesting your full name and mailing info Manaox, congrats and good job on winning. As you guys know all the correct entries were collected and a winner was chosen at random. For those wondering, here are the questions asked and the correct answers:
1. In the Simpson's
episode Radioactive Man, which Simpsons character was chosen to play
the part of Radioactive Man's sidekick "Fallout Boy"?
Milhouse Van Houten
Note: We got a couple of
answers to this, the most popular incorrect (but close) answer, was
Rod Runtledge. Unfortunately, Rod Runtledge wasn't chosen as Fallout
Boy in this episode, he was the original Fallout Boy cast in the
1950's TV show.
2. Which famous
Metal Gear Solid character said "Hand-to-hand is the basis of
all combat. Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon."?
This
one's easy, Gray Fox says these words to Snake just before
they do battle in Roland Emmerich's lab.
3. In the Aqua
Teen Hunger Force episode The Dressing, the Aqua Teens are visited by
Turkatron (AKA, the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past From The
Future). What holiday are the Aqua Teens belatedly celebrating when
they are interrupted?
Thanksgiving, I was
pleasantly surprised to see that just aboute everyone got this one
right. ALL HAIL THE AQUATEENS!
4. In the Lord of
the Ring's movies, what causes Frodo's sword to glow blue?
When
Orcs are near, Frodo's sword Sting grows blue with the light of a
hundred moons, ready to inflict massive damage!
5. In the
Spiderman live action movie released on May 3rd 2002, which real life
wrestler played the part of "Bonesaw", in a cage match
against Peter Parker.
Ooooh yeah! That would be the Macho
Man Randy Savage baby! (remembers fondly Savage proposing to Miss
Elizabeth in 198X)
6. Most of
us know the Super Mario Bros. titular character Mario as a plumber,
however he wasn't always. What was Mario's occupation before he began
fixing sinks and leaky faucets?
Boy I got all sorts of
weird answers to this question. The correct answer though, is that
Mario was originally designed as a Carpenter, and that's how
he appeared in Donkey Kong. (A lot of you answered with Jumpman,
which was his name in Donkey Kong, not his occupation).
And there you have it, another contest done. Incidentally, we
recently recieved an email from Daniel, the winner of our first
Neuros Video Recorder contest. He was kind enough to express his
gratitude and as I understand it is rather enjoying his prize. He also sent

Neat huh? Before I hop off my little soap box there are just a few words I'd like to pass on from the guys at Neuros. They understand that it's frustrating for those outside the U.S who are unable to get in on the competitions, they feel your pain, unfortunately Neuros is a company based in the US and competitions are rarely ever international for a number of reasons.
The guys at Neuros informed us that it's quite common for delivery carriers to charge the recipients of packages a special tax based on the value of the goods recieved, even if they're explicitly labeled as gifts! They cite an instance where a reviewer in the UK was asked to pay up to $100 in order to recieve his unit. So you see, it's not that Neuros didn't want to open up the competition to the international community but worldwide contests are rare (think about how often you've heard of one of those) and not easy to pull off.
I think you'll agree with me when I say that Neuros has been very generous with their prizes and seeing as how we believe they have a quality product, we tend to agree with them 100%.
