So, you're a little lazy to hold on to your PSP. More so, you're running out of batteries and need to charge up. Well, we found a really interesting item that could help you charge up while playing with your PSP. We're talking about Gametech's Stand Charger P+, one that also holds on to your PSP while charging. So it serves a little bit of a cradle, stand, and charger altogether. The Stand Charger P+ costs around US$ 13 and so far, it's only being sold in Japan. But you could bet that your online seller will be grabbing one of these sometime soon. Just keep watch.
Another concern among PS3 owners is switching their HDDs to SATA. Some have tried installing them only to find out that the 3.5 SATA drives are too tight, while the 2.5 are too loose for the PS3. Here's where the PS3 External SATA Adapter - known as PS3 ESATA - comes in. The ESATA Adapter allows you to use external 3.5 inch SATA hardrives instead of your PS3 internal hard drive. According to their tests, the SATA hard drive loads faster by 19 seconds compared to the regular hard drive. It even loads the menu almost 30 seconds faster compared to the regular 60HD.
Another thing expressed by a previous article is what are the specs needed to use this SATA Adapter. According to GameWatch you would need the following:
- A SATA hard drive of your choice
- The PS3 ESATA Adapter
- External Casing for your SATA Hard drive
The job is not as meticulous as prying your expensive PS3 apart. Speaking of expensive, the PS3 ESATA costs around US$ 30. With the HD and the casing, it could cost a little over a US$ 100. For those who really wish a larger HD for their PS3, well a US$ 100 more wouldn't hurt now, would it? The item is currently available only in Japan, but pray that some online retailer would start selling these so you'll be able to crack your PS3 open and make the switch.

I would love to see the psp cradle come to the U.S. as a charger/usb cradle. One question though, if I bought this from a Japanese Retailer wouldn't I just be able to use an AC converter to hook it up to a U.S. power outlet? Or would the charge be different or something for the PSP?....
That's my idea right there in a clean little product. I'll take the face plate and adapter when/if it becomes available ireally don't need the drive enclosure. It sure beats cutting a hole in the face plate like I wanted to do.
Kristine the PS3's HDD is already SATA. Putting a 3.5" is way beyond tight... Calling it tight is a big understatement. How are the 2.5" drives loose in the PS3, not even... Thier tests don't matter; drives vary quite a bit on thier specifications. A 3.5" 5200rpm 4MB cache SATA drive compared to 7200rpm or a 10000rpm drive with 8 or 16MB is going to show big performance differances between them. Also no has had to take thier PS3 apart to put in a drive.
It's an ESATA cable, which is very different from a USB cable. I'm pretty sure USB doesn't offer as much bandwidth, which is what made the ESATA spec necessary.
Its a nice alternative for an SATA connection...but its butt ugly... Nice though
for these kinds of products..cool. What menu? Nothing takes even close to 30 seconds on the XMB in the first place. I'm not sure what that comment is referring to .. you can even load up and be watching a blu-ray movie in less time than that.
So do they hire children to write these articles? Can ANYONE ANYONE ANYONE please check these before they become news?? How stupid do you have to be to write something like this. Everyone knows the drive is a 2.5", thus no way will a 3.5" drive fit, and I'd love to hear where someone put a 2.5" drive into a ps3 and it was loose? ROFL. We want these things so we can stuff a top of the line, 750 gb 3.5" sata drive into the ps3, sorta. External enclosure will have to do! And why does the external enclosure need to be connected to the adapter with an SATA cable AND a USB cable? Are they running the drive from USB power?? I'm sure there is another power adapter involved... What's the deal?
I would stick a 2.5 inch hd into the ps3 slot and be done with it. Does it matter if it doesn't fit tight? It doesn't matter to me. If there is a huge gap I will stick something in there.
Umm. This seems completely irrelevant to PSP... Am I wrong?
