Finally, here's a safe way to store your UMDs without the hassle taking up space in your drawers or having it accidentally broken by some dictionary-turned-paper-weight on your desk. MadCatz has released its 4X UMD magazine. As you can pick up from the name of the product, it can house up to four UMDs.

The product itself is very compact and features magnetic arms. Now, with this UMD Magazine, you're not only keeping your UMDs safe, but organized and dust-free as well. The video below demonstrates how to use it and shows just how compact it is. And you only have to shell out about US$ 10 for it.

You can visit the MadCatz site via our Read link for orders. Check it out and see if it's worth your UMDs.

» Looks kind of cheap...

But I guess its only $10... But I got my UMD case that holds eight UMD disks and is much nicer than that...at $10 as well. It also completely closes, so nothing can touch my UMD disks

» Nice, but...

This video reminded me of http://www.superhandz.com/. Check out the "Xtreme Digits" videos, I laughed so hard I cried when I saw that the first time. Hand Sportz, damn...

» I do like it.... But?

It is very nice for a case that holds 4 disc with ease and small for pocket. But I still think that everyone would like to have a backup of there UMDs on the mem card for only one pocket. But still this is a nice case. I give it 9/10. Very good thing to have.

» only?

10%? try more like 90% of the psp users still use UMD's today. MS Loaders and piracy isn't as plagued on the psp as you may think.

» umd case

I to, it's much better you can do 2 MS in there and 8 umd disks. i got it with my psp.

» looks fragile...

this would be nice for me because i have exactly 5 umd's (1 would stay on the psp while the rest could stay in the magazine), but this looks way too fragile to me...

Universal Media Disc Case from gamestop (I think) has a nice 2 Memory card holder that I've adjusted to carry on my PSP instead of a UMD :)

» magnets?

Magnetic arms? so won't that kinda... ruin your UMD's?

by some random guy - 2007-01-29 02:57

thats what i was thinking. it probably will after a long time.

by UMD - 2007-01-29 02:59
» no

No ive had this for a while it dosent run them you can carry them in your pocket:)

by oddsoy - 2007-01-29 03:19
» umd's NOT magnetic, duh

Hello, UMD media is not tape media, info stored once is there until it is physically (i.e. scratched) removed from the the plastic disk. No amount of contact with the tiny magnet will harm your UMD.

» too big and too fancy for an easy job

this thing is too big and too fancy just to hold UMD's. This case does the job just as well.

» How Would That Ruin An Optical Disc?

Thats what Sony uses to hold the disc the PSP too. Also the data is not magnetically stored on an optical disc, it is burned in. A hard drive is a different story though.

» Already Bought It 2 months ago...

i already got that like 2 months ago. Its pretty good.

» Better and Cheaper Alternative

You know the round Altoids hard candy tins? Well, each one of them holds 3 UMD disks without shaking or shuffling. The tin is metal and the cap secures nicely so they are very well protected. It is a far better, cheaper, and candy friendly alternatives to this.

by Gadwin - 2007-01-29 10:33

UMD is out. Like... Officially. ISOs FTW.

by UMD's out? - 2007-01-29 11:35
» ummmmmm......

Most ppl I know play umd games because they are honest! Gaming illegally is basically stealing. I hope you all go straight to hell!

by Jumpin Jehosaphat - 2007-01-29 13:43
» True

Sour Altoids tins are a delicious alternative to a 10$ case. To this date there is nothing that can beat them in durability or price.

» Not sure

I am not sure about elsewhere, but in Australia the PSP comes with a form, you fill it out, send it to Sony and get a free UMD Holder.
