Lior Wants Your PSP to be your new Phone |

We got a lovely surprise over at our QJ Forums. What you see there is above is the video demo of liornetwork's "phonechip for the PSP." The initial setup that appears to be under ongoing construction can't make phone calls yet. But it can receive calls and show you the strength of the signal. And Lior promises improvements: "I'm still working on how to resize it and get it to a mass production."
What does the future have in store? Here's what Lior has planned:
- X1 antenna
- X1 board
- headsets with microphone
- X2 wires
- X1 32 MB memory stick
- the antenna to connect to the local network
And it looks like Lior has big dreams for this setup. Lior's still considering how to finance the proposed project, however if he is able to pull this off, he estimates selling the final product for around $60.

I think its fake. I mean look at the guys name. The Lior(liar)? and look at the video quality... I'm not believing it until theres better proof But if it does end up being real then hey, GREAT JOB!! I would probably try it out.

My, eyes. Can't, see. *faints* Friggin cool mate. But please give us an update with a bit better images! Go get your digital camera, NOW!! Not a webcam, how come you ruin a great project with that crappy video. BTW, how good is the quality of the sound?
would it not be easier to make the psp an internet phone like for instance skype, however tremendos kudos to lior for the effort

Hey, the PSP is becoming something different everyday... i'm thinking a phone with GPS, it would be cool if we could switch between network and an internet phone to save some cash... keep up the good work.
Will you have to buy something extra for the psp what will be its prize, or it is a program that you can download from the internet.

"This is a good thing for the kids that can't get their parents to buy a cellphone" Yeah, so their parents will buy them a $60 add-on for their $150 gaming system to use as the the phone they won't get them for FREE with the subscription they'll need anyhow. Right. This (assuming it's real, and it probably is) has got to be one of the worst ideas for a PSP that I've seen yet. It's too big to be a cellphone and the batteries don't last long enough as it is. Why would I want to waste those batteries having it be a cellphone, too? Oh, and most cellphones have a LOT of R&D involved with big companies... This is a homebrew solution. Don't expect it to be good. (Look at the video for an example of 'not good'.)

and after recording his new psp phone, Lior finished recording his Blair Witch Project.... horrible video quality. i dont even know what i saw.
I saw white screens and stuff pluged into the PSP. But it was a very interesting write-up as to what it does. Pesonally I think it's a load of BS. If someone is going to go through all this trouble why would they post a video that shows nothing if they are trying to prove that it works?
LOL that was the most 2 minutes wasted of my life.
