psp batteryIs your PSP battery pack draining your resources? Then you can thank Sebastian S. Kresge for this. Sebastian who? Kresge put up a five-and-ten-cent store back in 1899. A million years later that store became K-Mart, which currently sells original PSP battery packs for $4 each. But wait, there's more. If you're also in the market for a PSP Car Adapter, K-Mart has that, too, for $3. Like we said, thank Sebastian Kresge for that!

only some K-Marts?

Is not $4 in my local K-mart..
by Vipre77 - 2006-08-02 04:51:41
Not here...

My local K-marts have been sold out of most of this stuff for a while and they don't seem to be restocking... These are clearance prices, meaning they intend to sell out of what they've got in inventory and that's it. The little bit of PSP stuff they have left around here isn't even kept with the rest of the video game stuff so, to me, it looks like they are getting out of the PSP market.

Bleh

I dont know about you guys, but the Kmart by my house never has anything in stock.
by - 2006-08-02 07:03:31
.

Meh, the official sony batteries arent much better than the battery that comes with the psp. I'd rather buy a battery that lasts 20 hours for $20. And they gave me a free car adapter when I bought my psp :3
by - 2006-08-02 07:05:49
true!

when they originally posted this info last week..i went to the closest kmart and bought the last 2 batteries....for all those checking the kmart wensite its a in-store clearance..so u need to go to the store to get it
by - 2006-08-02 07:21:07
This Rox!!

This is a super hot tip!! Just cleaned out all 3 of my area K-marts!! 17 Sony batteries for PSP = $68 14 Sony car chargers = $42 Selling 'em all on ebay for at LEAST 4 times the price.... PRICELESS!!
by - 2006-08-02 07:24:22
Believe it!!

For all of you doubters.... It still says $39.95 on the rack where they are hanging in the store.... when you ring it up at the register it says $4.00....
by - 2006-08-02 07:41:31
eh?

@22. . . filthy whore.
by Vipre77 - 2006-08-02 07:42:40
yeah, but

Very few of the stores actually have them in stock. Jerks like PanamaPaul already cleaned them out long ago. None of them here in Milwaukee have had them for a long time. K-mart is clearly getting out of the PSP biz around here. The only accessories they have left in stock are the soft cases, battery chargers, ac adapters, and remotes and even those are only in very limited quantities. The stores I checked didn't have many, if any, recent game titles and only a handful of movie titles left.
by - 2006-08-02 07:54:35
Hmm..

Come to think about it.. I'm yet to see *anywhere* here in London (UK) stock ANY official Sony merchandise. I dotn like using 3rd Party products, sometimes I will if they're Sony 'verified'. I really could do with a new battery but its like 40 pounds here.. $80. Thats just a piss take. And I would love a new official Soft Case. Surely you cant buy them seperate can you? I.e. not with a PSP?! I'd love one!
by - 2006-08-02 08:08:22
@25

That was a pretty cheap shot vipre77 Actually I have been selling most of them for what I paid for them to friends and have even given a couple away.... You might want to make sure the "jerk" label fits before throwing it around bud.... I just thought the Mastercard commercial reference would be funny.... ;)
by - 2006-08-02 08:09:21
cheap as crap

yea i know i already got it , and then i return it to best buy and get $40 credit ... or target.. .its the easiest way to get money, and its not illegal since no body loses money!
by CoBrA2168 - 2006-08-02 08:27:56
This is a repost by QJ.net....

This was posted last week... Anyway, here's some pics for proof for the non-believers: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/3803/1000593zl9.jpg http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/8677/1000594bu7.jpg

I got those at double the price...

I paid $8 for the battery and $6 for the car charger about a month ago and was tickled by the price. I see now that the higher capacity battery is out and figured they were just phasing out the 1800mah ones in favor of the 2200mah. And I figured the car charger was just a dud. It came in handy on my 8-day road trip though... a spare battery for away from the car, and a charger to charge with while I played/listened in the car. Unfortunately, the K-Mart I went to, was almost out of these a month ago (we don't have one locally and I just happened to pass one and need to pee -- lucky for me!) --rothbart

@28: What do you mean no one loses money? You obviously don't know retail. I work at Best Buy, and everytime that someone returns something, opened or unopened, we lose money. Why? If its opened, we have to take 10 percent off. If its unopened, it usually get discounted anyways. Plus, lets say that you mention its "defective." We then lose 90% of the product purchase price, and send it out to a junker that just destroys the product. Shows the ignorance of some people. The best part is that no Best Buy or Target accepts returns without a recipt anymore. The only (major) one is Walmart. Its people like you that ruin things for the rest of us. Rot in hell.
by - 2006-08-02 09:39:58
@31 they still make money

Just because BestBuy accepts a return of open package, and takes a 10% cut, you don't think they'll still make money selling it @ $36?? I bet they bought it for $5 or $10. Even if they did lose money, its a right of the consumer. If the store advertises returns accepted and/or price matching, then they must honor it. People buy from best buy so that they don't have to worry about find a cheaper price elsewhere within 30 days. If they don't, then Best Buy wins your business to the max. Its a gamble BestBuy corp wants to risk.
by 4218kris - 2006-08-02 09:51:24
BULL*****!!!

who comes up with this ***** it cost 39.99 http://www.kmart.com/catalog/product.jsp? productId=128576&No=48&Ntt=psp&Ntk= All&Nao=48&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&N=0&Nty=1
by - 2006-08-02 10:00:15
its real

Its $4 for the battery at my local k-mart and $3 for car chargers i bought a car charger but they sold out of battery's this is true not some fake sale.
by - 2006-08-02 10:01:44
K-Mart that is closing

The cheap batteries and car adapters can only be bought at K-Marts that are being shut down. They're doing sales such as 75% off. My sister works at one (temporarly), and she bought me a couple of batteries.
by - 2006-08-02 10:16:12
yeah well....

i checked this out at my kmart in chester virginia and they dont have any batteries...at all....i didnt expect them to though, nobody goes there anymore, the most registers ive ever seen open there are 2
by - 2006-08-02 12:12:58
True

If you actually go to the store and ring it at the register it rings at $4. It's not an online thing, you have to actually go to the store and buy it.
by - 2006-08-02 12:23:11
already been posted you retard

and no, i went to kmart, and there was nothing but $hit, and a battery charger for $35

by - 2006-08-02 20:34:06
yep...

@32: Now, now...I never said anything about price matching and actual warehouse pricing. Its no secret that companies buy stuff in bulk for crap-loads less, but that is not the argument I was trying to make. In all reality, BB may still break even, even if they make money in the end. Now, the actual reality. 90% of Sony products are price-locked, meaning that the supplier bought them at near retail prices. This also means that if any price cut is issued, then it comes out of the interest, and pockets, of the individual store. They are not the only companies that do this. Its called the retail game. People think that "oh, they are making soooooo much money off of this, so its not wrong." False. I work in Computer Sales. People always ask me "Can you take 10 percent off?" or "I'll buy the product if you give me the PSP (service plan) for free!" We LOSE money everytime that we sell a computer....even at full retail cost. Example: You can find a popular laptop with us right now on sale for $599. It cost us $679! We usually break EVEN when we sell a product made by a huge company like Sony (Apple is the main other one). There is alot that goes into pricing and returns in the retail world. Its always not so simple. Also, BTW, price matching is NOT obligated. It is up to the individual employee's and store's discretion. Once again, there are several criteria that must be met....and I can tell you now: if Kmart printed this in thier ad, then this would meet price-matching criteria! :)

Not a cheap shot at all, PanamaPaul

You said yourself that you cleaned out all of your local stores and were gonna sell 'em on eBay for 4x what you paid for them. That definitely makes you a jerk because you went out of your way to screw others over by making them pay higher prices somewhere else. Now you change your story when someone calls you on it and you're "selling most of them for what I paid for them to friends." Now you're a backpeddling jerk that doesn't let anyone in your area outside your little circle get to get in on the deal. Giving a couple of them away makes you a little less of a jerk, but overall, the jerk-meter is still reading a little high. Buying one or two for yourself and maybe one or two friends/relatives would have been reasonable, but buying way more than you needed makes you a jerk.
by - 2006-08-02 21:57:50
@45

No Vipre... It doesn't make me a jerk... It makes me a businessman engaging in commerce driven by supply and demand.... Jag-off!
by drew4237 - 2006-08-02 22:04:32
i went to kmart

and i found them for $12 allot cheaper than normal and i asked them how much it was and they rang it up on the register and they said 12 i didnt need it so i just left it there. if anyone wants one go to the oconomowoc wi kmart. it is inbetween madison and milwaukee not far from delifield if someone around here wants to get one for 12. they had allot there so i doubt they will sell out

I saw the post and went right after work. The price tag said $20 for the battery but it rang up as $4, so I asked about the charger too and it came up as $3. I'm gonna go back today and buy the rest to sell em. Confirming in Michigan.
by - 2006-08-03 12:28:47
