Flexible: a PSP holder for everywhere

The Flexible, in a car, being all suction-y

It looks a LOT like Talismoon's InTouch car cradle for the PSP, but has a promotional picture like the one for the stand that they sold with the release of the DS Cooking Navigator. It's called Flexible, and it's an all-around holder for your PSP.

It's hard to find something new to say about Game Tex Japan's Flexible PSP holder. That's mostly because everything that could be said about this accessory has been said in other articles, but let's try anyway. Featuring the same suction cup technology (boy, does that sound weird) as the InTouch, the Flexible is being marketed as a "stick-anywhere" device. We hope it means the suction cup for this one can really stick anywhere, or the sound of your PSP crashing onto the floor will be the last sound you ever hear from your handheld.

From the promotional pictures and tech specs of the Flexible (no specifications are available for the InTouch, it seems as if the arm for the Flexible is a bit shorter. On the other hand, the makers are saying that it can be turned 360 degrees. The pictures indicate that you can use it while lying down by attaching it to the your bed or sofa, or wrapping it in plastic to watch your favorite UMD while cleaning the dishes - it's meant for far more versatility.

The only issue we have with that is the picture of the guy below who's lying down, because there are two possibilities for this. Either he's lying down under the table he's attached the PSP to, or he's playing it with his stomach facing down. Both positions aren't things you'd do very often, but perhaps it's a Japanese thing. The Flexible is available in Japan for Â¥ 1500 (US $ 13), so if you've always wanted some kind of Japanese trinket, you might as well get something you can use.

guy...

That guy has it stuck to a TV tray (cushion on the bottom of it) and is lying in bed I'm thinking...
by - 2006-10-17 17:55:16
cool, but...

yes it looks as cool as like mine from PSPBlack but beware... if you want to use it in a car AND the GPS device from Sony just (sadly) forget it ! the GPS plugs exactly in same place as those holders

word

i noticed that too. i was going to buy one of these but then i waited. they'll revise their designs when the gps is close to being released...hopfully.
by - 2006-10-17 18:03:44
useless?

How is this useless? This would be perfect for people in need of a dock on a cramped desk. If it sticks to all surfaces, I'm buying one.
by Ryalla - 2006-10-17 18:12:37
Really?

I could have sworn he was laying down inside of a coffin. Darn...
by - 2006-10-17 18:20:38
Designers suck

WTF is wrong with these people? Make the design so that the top clips fit between the L&R buttons and the screw holes on top. That way the new GPS unit will fit so you CAN actually use this in a car if you wanted to. Come on people!!!... Think!
by - 2006-10-17 18:25:27
Well

those little suction cups never last long i will not trust my $250 investment in the hands of a single suction cup just for thing to snap off onto a hard table and skid off onto the floor where it cracks apart

the chronic

here's a link to the high quality mounts. http://www.arkon.com/pspmount.php same issue tho...the gps wont work with it.
by - 2006-10-17 20:05:04
whatever

i'd really like to see your "design" :p

Comment

Anyone notice that in the second picture the guy looks like he's laying under a table.
by - 2006-10-17 21:02:14
what?

dude i totally noticed that too. Wtf is he laying under. Would it be worth getting all those pillows out for somthing to hold your psp that dosent even weigh a pound?
by - 2006-10-17 21:23:22
He is laying under a table.

It's called a kotatsu. Its a table used in the winder that has a blanket to stay warm. http://www.tamegoeswild.com/photos/japan2002/01/images/kotatsu.jpg

...

Here in Australia we have had these ever since the PSP launched in September of lastyear. They work great, I got one in my car. The suction cup has a clip type thing you can see in the first photo, if you unclip it then the stand comes off.

What would I be watching?

My main question is what would I be watching on the PSP? I know that there are UMD movies and there are movies that people can convert and make playable on the PSP. However, if one has several short videos, or music videos in my case, how can one enjoy watching them if I cannot play them back to back (continuosly). After a music video finishes, I must select another. Is there any homebrew media player for the PSP that would allow me to play videos back to back?

nice

Nice design. I hate holding the psp on my hands all the time. This is very useful. Thanks for posting good stuff now qj.

USB?

how you get yer car to play songs from usb?
by - 2006-10-18 04:01:01
outside use/in a car

u can barely see the screen on a PSP when outside during the day. that car thing is a nice idea but u won't be able to see anything

Decent design.

I would really enjoy using this type of device for my car. I have tape deck in my car (haven't got around to installing my cd deck), and I also have an adapter that can plug into my psp, so I can play music in my car via my psp. If it won't fit both the stand and GPS at the same time though.. thats a pretty big drawback.

Design to be improved

Yes, I do agree with that. Design should be improved for the GPS thingie, but you always have the Homebrew GPS from Deniska, which goes into the stereo jack of the PSP, and not into the USB.
by - 2006-10-18 06:18:48
for nobody

Criticism of a design does not constitute a requirement of having a design of your own to boast about.... mmmkay. Dumbass.
by TPot - 2006-10-18 07:47:23
Thanks for the pic

That table looks freeky.
by logicc87 - 2006-10-18 08:09:38
What would i be watching?

You could use a vide editor to link all short videos and make it into one... ;)
by RaiderX - 2006-10-18 10:35:38
YES!

wtf is up with that? i cant figure out wuts actually going on in that picture! its bothering me >.
by - 2006-10-18 14:08:10
This is Joke!!

Man this will be brilliant to use with my iron lung!! That dude under the table has given me loads of ideas........................................................................................................................................
by - 2006-10-18 14:48:50
Wait till GPS come out

The look of it. you won't be able to plug the GPS on top, it's blocking the holder.
by - 2006-10-18 14:54:56
I agree with you.

PSP is very hard to see during the day time or as outside. I think they going to make a psp Face Cover that won't give you that problem.
by - 2006-10-18 15:03:27
Can't see anything! ! ! !

I like the idea that it hold on the glass, but it's blockin the USB holder for the GSP i'm wanting to get. Another thing is that you can't play the game outside. it's so hard to see. Im hoping they make a better screen for the Faceplate that won't give you that problem.
