Skype Headset - Image 1Sony PlayStation Portable gamers are all hyped up about the upcoming Skype for the PSP, and we've got something to heat up the already boiling hot hype: here are some pictures of the PSP headset that will be used with Skype, and it looks definitely sleek.

The headset with microphone comes in a nice silver-gray color, and is the kind that you slip over your ears. The microphone itself looks like its bendable, so there will be no problems in adjusting it.

One thing that we've noticed though is that the Skype headset is colored differently compared to the extension cord (that's the one with the volume controls and connects directly to the PSP and colored white), which may hint that the Skype headset may not be a part of any future PSP Value Pack.

More details as they come!

WOW!

Geez is this another example of $ony "rebranding" their products? This is just the Socom headset - I HAVE ONE!

Yup.

That's the Furicup headset I used to make a call from my PSP last night. Is Sony really touting this as "The Skype Headset"? That would e pretty lame.

Hey QJ?...

are you sure it's a skype headset or just the original one with the remote control of the slim psp? because in the original sony CES site said you will use the psp headset with the remote control... in the game icon and then go to the psp with the skype in it and in the information side said that... so maybe... they will use the psp headset, or a skype headset or the go mic that come with talk man... just my guess

Which pictures are we looking at?

Are we supposed to look at the picture with the Slim and the SOCOM headset in it, or the original PSP's earbuds with the Slims remote? Either way, I see nothing new in those photos and that both times there were PSP accessories shown as if they were something new.

wowww

theyre just rebranding their products. i wouldnt spend like 50$ more for some bull***** like that. i reallllllly hope they make a dongle for it that lets it support bluetooth headsets, because then im selling my phat and buying a slim. in my opinion it would sell pretty well. (the dongle)

- Dongle

I remember seeing a Bluetooth dongle for PSP a long time ago. It was for PSP-1000 and was long, it pluged into the Earphone/Serial port. Because those ports are different between the 1000 and 2000, the old dongle would not fit. But I don't believe that the old dongle had microphone support. Also the dongle would most certainly drain the battery a lot, this could be a problem. Maybe that PSP modding team (I forget their name) have a solution.

You guys have misleading info

This actually its not true they had a demonstration on CES with skype, and how it works and they clearly said were using this current headset setup as a demonstration, but were working on a skype package that will have less wires. So please dont post this SOCOM HEADSET as the new skype headset, sony knows better, and your actually putting wrong info. if you guys want check this link and watch the CES day 3: hands on with skype PSP http://blog.us.playstation.com/

-dongle

i dont mind the battery life being drained. but if there already is a bluetooth dongle, ill buy it. but it would be pointless because skype is only on the slim. anyway, im pretty sure some devs will make skype 1000 compatible in the near future. im looking forward to it, if they do, ill get the dongle.
