We honestly didn't quite expect the article about the 4GB SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo bargain find to make such a stir. The purpose of the article was to inform people on a budget where to shop, saving them time and effort. It was unfortunate, however, that the website where it was being offered doesn't carry the product as of the moment, marking it as "currently unavailable from the manufacturer"; which means that they are not accepting any orders and that the buyer should just constantly check the website for any updates.
As we've posted in the comments section for that article, the information about the $104.99 price tag was obtained through the AntiRebate website, that linked Buy.com as the one selling it at that price. If anyone was inconvenienced in anyway, our apologies.
As means of compensation, I am giving you another great find. It doesn't have a $104.99 tag, it's $104.95 after the rebate, has a Bill Me Later option (details on the site) and is currently in stock, and this time we learned the value of a screencap. Much thanks to steveL88 for the save.

If it is 10% off off their website, why would they need to do a mail in rebate?
Has anyone bought it using the Bill me later option? Apparently you don't have to pay for 90 days... i was wondering if that is a good option or not?
since the B&H price has a $20 MIR which must require a UPC, you won't be able to get the 10% off from sandisk because they require a UPC cutout as well.

I bought it using Bill Me Later, but I already have a promotion on with them where I pay no interest until January 2007, so that negates the possibility of no payments for 90 days for me. On another note, I've already received my shipping info via email, so hopefully it will ship today and arrive on Friday.
So we don't have to worry about these being fake memory sticks?
And to think that i payed €129,95 for a sandisk 1GB MS.. Oh well, live sucks :P.. Don't regret buying it though ^^

As an international customer, I'm not pleased that this dealer wants to have a copy / scan of my credit card. Especially if I transfer that with unsecure email, chances are that the whole world sees credit card details including photo, number, security number etc. No thanks. Many online shops can do without that. Maybe someone has another source for good price memory stick for international customer. Cheers.
Does this one work as good as the gaming edition? Does it even matter if it is the gaming or non-gaming one?

There was an article on Gamespot a while back that showed a slight difference in write speed from the regular MS Pro Duo to the gaming one, but I have a regular Sandisk 2GB stick and I can't tell the difference.

You MUST however purchase the Memory Stick Pro Duo by 8/15/06. But Rebate must be postmarked by 9/15/06. So maybe that is what he meant.

you guys know its gonna keep droping price ... in matters of months, 100 dollar 4 gig aren't going to be considered"good deal", with rebates and special offers you might even get a 4 gig for 50 bucks... ill pass and wait for it to drop price ;)
no doubt it will keep dropping. But just FYI guys 90% of rebates are actually scams. Rebates are handled by 3rd party companies and they most of time never send you a check. then they lie and say you didn't fill out forms right or didn't sent the UPC bar code...so in you are then ineligible for the rebate. trust me i worked MANY years in retail. This is a BAD BAD deal.

i have a 2gb and i have had over 1gb empty for about 3 weeks now so i dont really need this but for 100 it isnt that bad but i dont have a credit card or checking acocout to buy online stuff so i have to wait untill it is available in stores.

Get it from Play-asia.com. The shipping to aus is only around $5. I think the total comes to around $220ish. You can also deposit into their Australian bank account, so you don't need a credit card. Beats the cheapest prices currently available on ebay.com.au ;)

Within the last few years, i have purchased about 100 items with rebates. I keep track of every single one of them, and i have received all but 2 MIR's. so that is a track record of 98%.
rebates that go thru rebatestatus.com, rebateshq.com or web-rebates.com are all legit.
Man i think these "bargain mem sticks" are just BS because how is it possible that some stores have em at 299.99 and some at 104.99??? i think its a scam.....Put it this way if u had a mem stick and every1 was selling em at 299.99 its obious that you would just sell it like 25 dollars less or something because no one wants to loose profit!!! think about it!!!
They buy them in bulk from the company and get a huge discount! It Just depends how much they bought if they bought 100,000 then they get a discount ayther way we get a good deal!
