This is a good deal for me since I don't own a card reader and do everything slooowly through the PSP's MS slot, right?

They've just made a mistake. Real high-speed costs $349.99 on the same website, as you can see here: http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/detail~dpno~536002.asp

But can anybody explain me the difference between the Ultra and the Gaming version of SANDISK, is it the write/read performance or only the color

i didn't find any direct comparision between ultra and gaming, nor a real specification from scandisk about the read and write throughput of the gaming edition.

On the MSXM2GS page, the manufacturer part number is MSXM2GS, but the description is for the MSX-M2GN. On the MSXM2GN page, it's reversed. The descriptions do not match the products.
In the short descriiptions at the top, the $350 card has "Minimum write speeds of 15Mbps" while the $158 card supports "Read and write speeds up to 80Mbps".
Finally, in the main description (in bold), the $350 card is a "2 GB High Speed Memory Stick PRO" - NOT A DUO?!?
What a friggin waste of time to even look at this company.

You evidently have no idea what English means if you need to ask that question you fool. And be a real man and post under a username instead of the anonymous psedonym. Oh sorry, you are a spotty 12 year old oink with silvery stains on your trousers - the thought of standing up and being counted makes you piss your trousers doesn't it?

Ooooh, you are a man - I mean to make up something like '****nell' must have taken all of three seconds and taken so much courage! A quick English lesson son, 'diffirent' is actually spelt 'different' and 'speeks' is actually spelt 'speaks'. Oh, let me guess - you spelt them that way deliberately? Tell me, do you make a special effort to act like a complete **** or does it come naturally?
Oh, and I am English and live in Bedfordshire you little prick.

This is unfortunately not the case. The Sandisk Gaming sticks use MLC (multi-level cell) memory. The plain-Jane blue colored Sandisk sticks use SLC (single-level cell) architecture. What this means to you is that the "Gaming" sticks, which appear to be far more extreme, are actually cheaper to produce, slower, and have a shorter lifespan than their SLC cousins.

I have just spoken with PC Mall about this card and estimated ship date. As of 4:00p EST, PC Mall is receiving their first shipment of these cards. Unfortunately, they are only receiving six (6) cards and they have forty (40) orders that need filled!
As for the speed of the card, he had nothing to say. He was unsure that there were different "speeds." The only thing I can say is go by the website and complain that they made the mistake by sending you the wrong card (if you do receive the slow 2gb).

On a related note, I was looking through the Sunday magazines and was cvery surprised at the across-the-board price drops on all flash memory based cards. 1 gigabyte flash cards selling for $59.99 and a 1 gigabyte usb jump drive selling for $49.99 (all after rebates of course). It seems there was a unanimous decision among memory companies to drop memory prices to stimulate sales. That would explain the drop in 2 GB card prices as well. From my watch it took a little less than 6 months for the price of 1 gig cards to drop to the price that 512 MB cards were at (they're now at 30 bucks...yikes). So maybe in another 6 months we can expect 2 gig pro duos to drop under $100. Cool no?

M2GN is the High Speed version. M2GS
(which the part number states) is the plain Duo Pro. This can be found at many places online for $150 (check froogle). DON'T BE SCAMMED BY PCMALL. I've fallen victim to their poor details and even worse cust service before.
I had found this ad a week ago and almost acted on it. Luckily saw the part number didnt match up. Also, as a caveat, there is no real benefit to having the high speed card if you are using your PSP as your card writer, since it doesn't support high speed writing.

...and besides, the PSP isn't capable of taking advantage of the "High Speed" anyways, so anyone who buys Pro Duo's only for the PSP is wasting their money. ;)

PS : next year means the first Q1 of 2006.
