Here's the latest version of Cooleyes' ever-popular alternative media player for the Playstation Portable, PMPlayer Advance (PPA). Notable features of the update includes the addition of flv2mpeg4 format, and the use of a new codec to decode FLV1 files.

Homebrew coder Genesis Vids has once again tipped us on the latest release of his Game Boy, Sega Master and Game Gear emulator for the PlayStation Portable, EmuMaster. The latest update of the brew is basically a performance improvement release and involves lot's of code cleanups with a nifty theme.

Even with the departure of bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella, it seems a lot of Infinity Ward's staff are still sticking around at Activision. It's not out of loyalty, though. According to a Kotaku report it's mostly because Activision still hasn't paid them their royalties.

The PSP enjoyed a huge surge in sales in Japan for the first week of March. According to data released by Media Create, the Sony handheld jumped to almost 65,000 units from 37,338 the previous week.

It's been a while since Microsoft had any reason to celebrate their standing on the NPD charts. Some three years already, in fact. But today, that drought has been broken, thanks to the Xbox 360 beating out every other console for the month of February.

This week's European PlayStation Store update is a big one for the PSP for three reasons - two free level packs for echoshift, Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake, and of course, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, finally getting a European digital release. There are other great purchases in the bunch, so make sure you check the list and you don't miss a thing.

With Iron Man's first ever appearance hitting the Digital Comics Store last week, another historic comic book gets digitized this week. The first five issues of X-Men from way back in 1963 are on this batch, so now you'll now how it all began, minus the Hollywood treatment.

For the longest time, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars had been an unsung great in the Nintendo DS lineup, but not anymore.
