With February coming to a close, the industry has been experimenting with all kinds of trends. Between getting involved in various social, causes, increasing prices for games, and even some religious banter, in this single week it seems like the gaming world we know and love has been turned on its head. Not to mention we even got our handful of actual facts about the PS4 as well. Want to know more about this crazy week? Welcome to Confessions of a Gamer!

The PS4 Is Keeping Strong With Disc-Based Games

For those of us waiting to see what the next-generation of gaming will be, there are a whole lot of trends we can expect to see. However, if you thought digital downloads was going to be the absolute norm moving forward, that just might not be the case if you asked the CEO of Sony's European division. While he does say that more content will be made for digital, difficulties with download speeds in other countries make in more reasonable to still produce most games on discs.

While this may not be a super common point of view, I'm actually kind of disappointed that we won't be seeing a totally digital transition. With services like Steam, I've loved the fact that I can have a massive collection of games at my finger tips without having to fill boxes upon boxes to fit all those disc cases. In general, I was actually kind of hoping that I could go 100% digital for this generation. After all, it would be a lot less strain on my bluray drive. That means when all you folks will be complaining about disc read errors, I'm still hoping to keep on gaming digitally. Sure hard drives can be a problem too, but at this stage in production it's seems a lot less likely.

I certainly see their reasoning though because other countries may not be able to download these massive game files. At the very least, those of you that still love to play used, this will still give you the option to do just that. What it boils down to is, the whole world should be allowed to get great content, so I can suck it up if it means I'll have to buy a disc every now and again.

Would you pay $70 for a game? EA talked about it, but it was supposedly a mistake. Find out the full story next!

Don't mind causes in general, but I think game companies should stick to making games. EA certainly is one of the bigger names out there, so it has the ability to influence others, but I think we get enough politics in our lives as it is. Let the game makers focus on games.

I'm an Atheist, the less religious shit in games the better and if it's in there make it like the good games, that point a finger to religion as a negative.

Much like any other creative media, games are the whim of their creator. Things like religion can and will pop up. If someone gets offended or feels the need to quit because of disagreement or stress, that is fine, but we should never hinder the creativity or vision of someone's game just because one or a few, or even if all disagree. To compromise your vision of your story is to compromise the very thing you aim to create. We don't pay for games with vast stories just so we can read our own opinions(I guess some people do, but they are dull). When I play a game I want to experience what the person wants to convey. If we restrict creative thoughts just because some people disagree, eventually we won't be creative at all.
