The PS Vita Gets a Sony-Exclusive Price Cut, But Why?
We've heard it a million times before. Sony's PlayStation Vita is a great piece of hardware, but it's just too darn expensive. Still after years and years of consumers begging around the globe, outside of Japan Sony had adamantly denied that any price cut will be happening to their flagship handheld. That's why we were all shocked when we saw listings in the company's online stores that put the 3G Vita bundle at $250 rather than its typical $300 tag. News on the new pricing has been somewhat across the board, but that won't stop me from telling you what I think.

Considering it's now Monday as I write this and the price is still cheap, the statement that this is only a sale lasting till Sunday seems to have been proven quite wrong. Still that doesn't mean the sale couldn't have been extended. In my opinion however. I think this is a much larger move by Sony to discontinue the 3G model instead. It's possible that with the launch of the PS4 they could be coming out with an updated version of the hardware, but I would go on record to say that it may be just a bit more reasonable to think that maybe the 3G version just isn't selling enough to be a profit. Sure, getting online with a handheld is part of the new wave of technology, but I don't see many reasons why gamers would pay for yet another data plan when many already have one for their phones. I'm sure there are some of you hardcores out there, but the masses are probably fine enough with WiFi. If they can get the more expensive model off shelves, then Sony can make it seem like they have cut the price by highlighting the cheaper version instead. It's a pretty nasty trick but it just might work.
