70 Bucks! Analyst Says Next-Gen Games Will Cost That Much |
Listed in: News Tags: Microsoft, ps4, Sony, xbox 720
If one analyst is correct in his prediction, you’ll be shelling out 70 bucks for games on next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony.

Michael Pachter, a research analyst with Wedbush Securities, said that games for the upcoming PS4 and the next Xbox will retail for $70. His prediction was tweeted by Geoff Keighley, host of Spike’s GamesTrailers. The tweet read:
“At #SXSW panel @michaelpachter says PS4 and next Xbox games will likely cost 70 dollars, 10 dollars more than current gen.”
A few weeks ago, SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton said that Sony “will offer games with prices ranging from $0.99 to the more traditional $60 range with the ability for players to sample games before they buy.”
While Tretton said games will top out at a retail of $60, the term range could very well mean that Pachter’s prediction of $70 will come true.
Would you be willing to pay a retail price of $70 for games on next-gen consoles? What is your ideal price point?
