The Metal Gear games have never really been my cup of tea. It's been a tea often filled with blood and corn and while I like both of those things from time to time it's hard to take it seriously when that tea is splashed in with some terrible dialogue.
That terrible dialogue continues in Metal Gear Rising...
The game looks like a departure from the usual Metal Gear as we have some incredibly cool and well-plotted hacking and slashing. The hacking is really detailed to the point of even cutting those slices into more slices and then - as the trailer describes - grabbing their fluid.
The game will be out next year and Kojima has really made a different game and more importantly done it well. I actually might pick this one up upon a glowing recommendation. It's producers are Platinum Games who helped with the Sega developed Bayonetta, not really one of my favourite games, but it looks like with Kojima's franchise, they've made it look good...also would explain the gameplay.

If I wanted to play Bayonetta, I'd buy Bayonetta. This doesnt look "well done", the MGS games have usually been awesome and the graphics tend to look less like cartoons each time around. All I see here is a fast paced hack'n'slash. If you like that mindless dribble I doubt you're very well suited at reviewing games.
The trailer made the game look stupid but I guess we'll see when its out. (Also if the game gives us some bull cliché about the reason he went back to being a cyborg ninja is because the main boss guy killed his wife and kid.. I dunno.. thats just pathetic.)

Seriously though, does anyone get the impression this may end up being the same crappy game, just refitted into the metal gear franchise? Just saying, that game left an awful taste and though it's been washed out, I can't help but fear that this is it all over again.

Everybody with common sense has been moaning about that for ages.
It doesn't even appear to be a stealth game, though. It's nothing like the Metal Gear Rising they'd initially planned.
