The PS4 Rumor Report: Everything We Think We Know About the Next PlayStation |

For those of you not so in the loop, you might be interested to know that Sony is holding a live press conference tomorrow where many believe the company will be unveiling its next-generation Playstation Platform code named the PlayStation Orbis. Over the past few weeks, the rumor reports have been pouring in from all over the place, but luckily I am here to condense all of it for you? Want to see what we think we know about PS4? Look no further!
Price and Dates
If there's any little nugget of info that's on everybody's mind these days when it comes to the PS4 it's "how much will it cost, and when can I get one." As far as the rumor reports go, the most recent one would tell you that we should see the unit priced somewhere between $400 and $450. Judging by the time the announcement has come, many also tend to speculate that a release for the 2013 holiday season sounds like the perfect window to get all of the launch buzz sorted out. According to some, both of these details may actually be omitted from the event tomorrow simply because Sony would like to see what Microsoft does before making another fatal move.

This very well could mean we might see the final numbers and details trickle in at E3 in June, but we more or less all know how badly that worked for them last time. In some senses the price game is still a massive game of chicken between the two main combatants, but for all intents and purposes right now, the rumors say somewhere between those two amounts. There may also be multiple entry level and deluxe skus to consider as well which will probably impact how much you pay. Although Sony will probably do a nice job of making the more expensive option the better deal.
My Take: I think we will hear about all of this tomorrow, but I'm not sure how happy we will be with price. Sony has been notoriously zealous in its strategy even with the Vita, so I could see the PS4 clocking in at $450 base and $599 for a deluxe unit with possibly a game and bigger hard drive. As for the holiday release, I definitely see it happening.
So that's the price, but what hardware will we be paying for? Find out on the next page!

I'm going to seriously miss traditional backwards compatibility, but I don't see it coming back...
