Rumor: PS4 Lands First |
Listed in: Rumors Tags: loop, Microsoft, orbis, ps4, Sony, Wii, xbox 720
If the last round of console wars proved anything, it’s that the hardware that lands first has an enormous advantage. Being first to market was one of the biggest reasons for the Wii’s colossal success, and the Xbox 360 landing before the PS3 ensured the Sony device would be relegated to third place. Sony may be looking to avoid this mistake with its next console, as one industry source indicates that it is rushing to beat Microsoft to market with its PS4/Orbis system.

According to this anonymous source close to VG247, Sony is “confident” that it will be able to hit the open market before Microsoft can bring its console to bear. This would be a big win for the company, which was nearly a year late to the current generation of hardware. The source also indicated that “top line publishers” are aware of the device’s specs, and that several developers are already working on titles.
What do you think of all of these console rumors? Are you excited about the next-gen? Also, does it matter which system lands first?

No point in spending hundreds of dollars just to rent a console as opposed to owning it and what's on it.

Yes, that was before the "cloud" and no I did not have two PS3's at the same time.

1. It does not have bleeding edge technology.
2. It is not backward compatable with PS3 Games.
3. Supports download only games.
4. Locks games to a single machine.
5. Does not support used games.
6. Does not give me access to my data.
Given PC tech at the moment I will go and build my own games machine.

That would make it cost more than $1,000...wouldn't it?

I hate IGN. This may be the case for the US market, but worldwide the PS3 is set to beat the PS3 sometime this holiday/early next year. Don't believe me? Look up Global sales lol. PS3 is outpacing the 360 in worldwide sales by about 1.6 million units per year. Since it was a year late, it took 6 years to catch up. I'd be afraid if I were M$, sure they have good sales, but no one is going to pay for online service unless you get better online service. Meaning dedicated servers which the 360 does not use at all except for a handful of 1st party games. Almost all PS3 games use them. Just an altogether shit article for anyone outside of the USA. Eat a fat donkey D IGN, USA may have the largest market, but the global market rules all.

Finally, if the big game developper companies do not follow this trend, then i'm probably done with gaming, it's sad but they really pissed people off.

Removal of features on PS3, locked content on PS4, farewell Sony. Not interested one bit in whatever it is capable of (at launch anyway until you start downgrading it again)
Back to PC gaming for me when the PS3 flame dies out.
