I have been incredibly busy this week but I thought that with the new DLC for BF3 coming out earlier than other consoles, that I might as well sit down, download and give it a shot. I'd already enjoyed the multiplayer so far and I thought it was nifty for EA to include the DLC as a part of the pack for a few dollars extra when buying the special edition. I've always loved the maps for the Battlefield series, so let's see how it'd go going Back to Karkand.

After downloading the DLC (Almost a gig) and the latest update (almost another gig), I headed into battle. I was quite happy to see these four classic levels done in the beautiful Frostbite engine.  Apparently there are also a few new weapons and vehicles to go along with it, but the reason I got my limited edition were the levels and that is how I roll.

To give you a tiny backstory which you can easily skip - like so many cutscenes - I cut my teeth on online gaming with BF2 back in the day. In between games of Counter-Strike and Call of Duty 2, we'd throw on BF2 and play around for a while, cursing each other out and crashing jets straight into people on the ground...totally worth it.

The new DLC is the only thing other than Orcs Must Die and Breath of Death that has pulled me out of my entranced state into the madness that is Saints Row the Third. So I thought I'd give the new levels a run for their money and pull out all the stops of reviewing the levels I got free with my copy of the game. I will say that the game froze up several times which may be a problem EA needs to fix.  Or my almost two year old PS3 may need to be replaced.

I feel that some of the large levels are pretty lonely on consoles, especially conquest. A 64 player PC is quite different.

the big maps are lonely because everyone just sits at the home spawn waiting for the next jet or heli like noobs

I was never a Call of Duty fanboy. I've clocked more hours in Bad Company 2 than any Modern Warfare.
