Gamespot's managed to get their hands on an early build of Epic Game's Unreal Tournament 2007. According to them the build they were shown was still unoptimized and required an NVIDIA quad SLI setup (4 Geforce 7800 GTX's running at once!!) just to run. This fact is both alarming and exciting, alarming because the next generation Unreal game was first shown at E3 almost a year ago running on PS3 devkit hardware, it was unoptimized then, and it's still unoptimized now? It's exciting because when the game was shown last year on the less powerful PS3 devkit, it was running at 48 frames per second, this gives us a rough comparison benchmark (admittedly very rough) as the game requires a quad SLi rig to get similar results.The preview talks about the slight changes made to UT2k for the next generation such as the impressive new graphics, a new emphasis on aerial combat for certain gameplay types (onslaught), more realistic feeling environments, and the developers attempts to get rid of a HUD and instead display as much relevant info as possible via the game world (see Fight Night Round 3). We also learn that the red suited team members we've seen in a few screens are called the Twin Souls, while the yellow team led by Unreal Tournament veteran Lauren, will be called the Iron Guard.
For the PC bots out there they also mention that the game will run on average hardware of the time when it's released so you won't need to sell your soul to Milhouse for a quad SLI rig).

ps3 is that good is it? with one nvidia gpu inside ps3 they outclass a quad sli nvidia setup? i'll believe it when i see it (more)

it looks too damn good ,this game looks as impressive as any game but the Motorstorm looked the most realistic. However, i seriosly hope this wud look as good as it wud on a PS3 since the PS3 only got one GPU, maybe the cell will do the rest of the work instead of the 3 GPUS we dont have in a PS3.
Also, im realy giving respect for the Unreal team for putting so damn much effort in this next gen game as well as with the help of NVidia pwning ATI big time. Im not happy w/ most of the 360 games cuz the developers made em just a tad bit prettier than xbox1 except for PGR3 and Fight Night so far. But with the PS3 titles, most of the ones that are coming to Sony is worth gettin the PS3 right away plus since the PS3 is such a powerfull entertainment unit for the house. Its nothing the xbox360 can do. Im happy:)
BUT, the funny thing is, we think this is cool we wudnt even look twise at this game in 10 years on a PS4 or PS10
its sad but we gota enjoy what we get :)

seriously though, i reck ps3 will win. i dont' see why games with higher graphical finesse are so much shinier... why? why would all textures ever be shiny? look at that pgr game on xbox360, we think it looks good cos its shiny!
i think a game which had terrific graphics was ico, i'm eagerly awaiting okami, as that looks cool. but sony games have mostly had more than just shiny textures.
but as ps3 will be more powerful than xbox360 then i guess the cars and walls and guns etc in ps3 games will be even shinier!

I doubt the 360 will win this console war, sony will win, but the hype surrounding the ps3 is just a bit crazy.
