Simpsons Arcade coming to XBLA and PSN |

Being a 90's kid, I apologise very little for how our decade shaped culture for better or worse. Yes, we did kill music television and yes, we did let a lot of politicians lie and yes, we started the whole console wars based on hype, marketing and simple stupidity, but hey, last decade was pretty bad too. But one thing I do not apologise for is the awesomeness that (was) is The Simpsons.
While the series has been getting along in years, the merchandising still continues and the Australian classification board recently put a listing up for the classic arcade game to be released on consoles after over two decades of being stuck in a cabinet at the back of that pizza shop you always say you're gonna go to, but never do.
Originally released by Konami back in 1991, the game used a very similar engine to Turtles in Time and Batman Baseball with a series of side-scrolling levels, 16-bit Simpsons music, quotes from the characters and so many off-colours, that you have to go back and watch the first season and realise that's just how it it was in the early years.
Hopefully this recent announcement will be different from the 2009 release of the mobile phone game EA released known as The Simpsons Arcade, which was riding The Simpsons Game, name. This time it's a completely different dev, with Backbone Entertainment, who specialise in these classic arcade, retro imitations, who have worked on Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and even helped with the Ultimate Genesis Collection for Sega a few years ago.
I whole-heartedly welcome this port and expect it to be out in First Quarter of next year, we'll keep you updated.

Not really.. he's just saying he grew up in the 90's. Many QJ readers ARE probably teens, actually.. In fact, I was born in 1990. Seniors in high school probably don't even remember the N64 or PSX actually launching, weren't old enough to understand OoT, more than likely never owned Pokemon Red or Blue and started with Gold or Silver.. etcetc. Few years equal huge differences in entertainment and technology. Many people haven't even used dial up now!
