In this iteration of Need for Speed, you play as Jack, a wannabe race car driver with a bit of a shaded past.

Jack has wound up in a fair bit of trouble, but manages to sign on for a secret cross-country race from San Francisco to New York against 200 other racers for the chance to win $25 million in cash.

Just what Jack needs to get rid of that shaded past.

You can help Jack, by using one of the seven exclusive cars that are available on the PS3, and here they are:

• Hennessey Venom GT
• GUMPERT apollo s
• Lamborghini Countach QV5000
• Koenigsegg Agera R
• Lexus LFA - Sony says that in Need for Speed The Run, you can hear what is described as "the roar of an angel" as the Lexus LFA battles it out with the fastest supercars in the world.
  
  
  
  
  
• Porsche Carrera GT - According to Sony, in The Run, you'll find yourself turning up the volume just so you can hear the incredible whine coming from the dual exhaust pipes.
  
  
  

Only screenshots of these two cars exist at the moment, but they are still very decent looking.

The release of the next instalment of Need for Speed is due next week.
