Offsite: Nintendo's Role in Sony's Fall |

Ó

While we do love the PlayStation portable, and are very excited about all three upcoming next-gen consoles (Nintendo’s Revolution, Sony’s PlayStation 3, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360), a very interesting article was written over at About.com about Sony’s future in the gaming market. While it is only speculation, a scenario similar to the one presented in this article does seem possible. Read the full article here: Nintendo's Role in Sony's Fall

That wasn't biased at all.

what a bloated ass bag, he needs to pay more attention to facts...Sony has no good exsclusive titles....hmmm...final fantasy, mgs, gta, god of war, pretty much every other good rpg....
Reply
Yeah, this guy needs to be hit over the head with a nintendo revolution controller.

final fantasy is not ps exclusive, in fact square is developing for the 360
Reply
I dont see any other Final Fantasy game on the 360. Square-Enix will stay with the PS3 to develop Final Fantasy games.
FFXI is on the 360 because of its online mode and they want to expand the game as much as posible.

definetly, i don't see a ffXIII being on both ps3 and xbox 360(and you know square's gonna make it)

Square Enix's president Youichi Wada already stated that the Final Fantasy series would remain exclusive to the Playstation family. FFXI is the only exception because it was meant to be a multiplatform title. Wada claimed that he wants to keep Final Fantasy exclusive to the most powerful and popular console on the market in order to ensure the best quality as possible for each game.
Final Fantasy spinoff titles such as Crystal Chronicles may see the light of day on the Xbox 360 side to side with FFXI, but the actual Final Fantasy series remains exclusive to the Playstation 3...along with Grand Theft Auto, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid....

There have been Metal Gear Solid games on every platform. Don't forget that the xbox had Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance before the PS2. Also, Gamecube has a special remake of the first Metal Gear built off of the newer Engine from Metal Gear Solid 2. Konami and Hideo Kojima are definately NOT exclusive. In fact, it has already been confirmed that Hideo Kojima is working on a game for Revolution that is not a Metal Gear game.
This article is not biased. It's an opinion article, and he points out some interesting possibilities. Sony IS struggling. the iPod Video IS selling well. Xbox360 HAS sold out on presales and therefore most likely will be successful. The rest is speculation of things that might happen, and at the the end of his article, he states a few things that may change all of what he said.
This is a very well written article.

I can see all the playstation fanboys hating on this man. But i think it is well writen and not biases and it's not like he saying he hopes that sony fail but he's saying how things may turn out. everone knows it gonna be a battle but it's nice to hear how and why it may turn out sony last, because noone is expecting that.

heh...you're the same guy who just posted...
anyways, there are some true and obvious points, but it seems that a VERY high percentage of the polls taken show an eventual PS3 victory over its competitors, the PSP is picking up the pace quite a bit not, and Sonys very large stock drop was due to its lack of selling in other products, not gameing. of course the will still have an impact on how their system turns out, but hardly an impact considering it was already being worked on while this happened, and the PS3 appears to have a good future with rising power blu-ray helping it along and many devolopers already looking into it. Also it seems to be a huge power-house by its numbers

If you are refering to the Anonymous poster being me, then you are mistaken, but that's alright. I forgive you.

I read same type of crap before DC launched, and then before XBox launched, and you know how it turned out.
Truth is, that SONY is overtaking lead in handheld market and that they are doing everything well in case of next-gen.
POWER - TECHNOLOGY - MEDIA - INNOVATION - SUPPORT everything is in PS3.
PS3 has already over 100 titles announced, from Asian developers alone.
Blu-ray has support of every major studio already, it is already known that it will win future media battle - which for SONY means PROFIT.
And media-hub, which PS3 is, is wanted and needed by almost every family.
It has connectivity with every USB and Bluetooth device, it got flash memory readers, for your digital cameras and mp3 players, it supports SACD and Blu-ray.
Blu-ray player will cost like 1000$ at start, so guess what: people will buy PS3.
and no exclusive titles?
I will name you few titles with BIGGEST fanbase, that remain exclusive to PS3 (the only one great seller it doesn't have is HALO):
- GTA
- Gran Turismo
- Final Fantasy
- Dragon Quest
- Metal Gear Solid
- TEKKEN
- Devil May Cry
These series alone will make PS3 win next console war, but as you know, there's plenty more, because PlayStation consoles always gain biggest developers support.

your wrong about everything you said

heh this had pretty much the same comments in the PSP section when it was posted YESTERDAY
Why flood all the boards with it, when it doesn't belong here in the first place
This is an Article (if you can call it that) Entirely based on opinion with no, new facts or information. All he does is right down what he thinks (/ wants) to happen
THIS KIND OF POINTLESS DRIVEL DOES NOT BELONG IN THE NEWS SECTION. it isn't news!

So, what you are saying is that the opinion section of all newspapers should be ripped out, because they don't count as news? Theories based off of speculation and hypothesis are a valid form of media to hold in a news site. If you were to read the article objectivly, you would have noticed that this was not written to be an attack on Sony, so calm down before you hurt yourself. This is all merely intended to be a possibility. The man even had a disclaimer before everything that he wrote.

Sony's taking a real risk on this hardware with regards to the expenses. Sony is huge and the playstation name itself is very well liked. But PS3's definitely going to be expensive, so they'll have to sell it at some loss if they expect consumers to take it as opposed to the X-Box 360 Halo 3 assault around launch time. Not to mention that Sony's never had a great track record with optical media drives. Sony seems to like cutting corners when it can. I think anybody with an early generation PS2 remembers one phrase:
"DISC READ ERROR"
So with the the PS3 having the very first blu-ray drives, we will probably see some serious issues. Also, if the DRM is as strong as it's rumored to be, consumer outrage could soar higher against Sony when little Johnny can't play his brother's games on the family's second PS3. The rootkit situation has already put them in a bad light, and they don't need to go locking titles and enforcing internet based DRM which will damage their image more.
Really, buy whatever system has the games you want on it. It's that simple. But if Sony goes DRM crazy on the PS3 (as is being rumored), I'm not buying it because sometimes, you have to put your foot down as a consumer, even if you miss out on the latest GTA or whatever.

Were was it stated that FFX11 is only for PS3 cop on and youse are not being biased towards Nintedo no well i can afford all three consoles so hahahahahah

for all those who weren't too lacking in knowledge, the dics read error was easily solved with a laser cleaner...the same kind used for normal CD players and whatnot... all it meant was dust on the laser...easily solved.
and sorry SNES Link if that wasn't really you. it's just it seems suspicious when someone is backed up in 10 minutes on a low-popularity site by an anonymous poster... y'know?
Reply
Yea...but i didn't have the disc read error prob with my other consoles.
Sony also got sued for it(resuled in a settlement)
