can anyone say PSP2 chip processor?

Don't want to be unpolite but, who cares? :|

shinta, one with your intelligence and lack of common sense probably wont care. But what this means is like anon 3:04 said, furthering development on processors whether it is from personal computers to a PSP.

who care about that yet?
there is no chip coming out with this technology in the next at least 5 years.
too poor that the Cell for the PS3 is still produced in 90nm.

I wonder why the idiots who don't care about this should post "who cares?". If you can't appreciate the meaning of this news, just shut up instead of posting crap. You make yourselves seem really stupid.

this is big news... Intel and AMD are going to encounter rivalry (I predict Intel will be beat by both AMD and the IBM, Sony, Toshiba Team) not only that, but sony will definately have the upper hand in production cost of systems (meaning more money for consumers to save) and prcessing power... but hpow long will it be before they create enything more powerfull than the cell? it seems corrunt highend computers are going equal if not surpass ps3 capabalities in only a matter on weeks, can this be so?

It's highly unlikely that Intel stays on top for too much longer unless they get their act together. Right now, AMD's processors > Intels flat out. And don't even start with the Pentium D, the X2 is much better no matter how you slice it. And the Opteron series (high end, servers) are really kicking ass, especially since they can basically overclock 500-700MHz on air!
Yea, Intel will be on top for a while, but unless they release some good stuff soon (especially with AMD's sAM2 coming soon), they are going to have some very stiff competition. I really don't know why the masses prefer Intel ATM, they run hotter, cost more, and perform worse (mainly in games, they do perform better in some multimedia tasks, but still).
And don't call me a AMD Fanboy, because their mobile processors suck. I'll be the first to say that, Pentium M > Turion...

They will never stop dominating in my book. IMO, my X2 3800+ and 7800GTX is more than enough and pretty much goes toe to toe with the 360. Of course, the graphics and such will get better with time on the consoles, but by next year PCs will definitely be on top again with the new PhysX card, the new GPUs (GeForce 8800GTX perhaps? X1900XL?), and the new processors (socket AM2, AMDs new socket, comes in Feb.). Yea, PCs will be back on top soon by a large margin, IMO.

zack you're cute, IMO.

Um, ok...?

"Yea, PCs will be back on top soon by a large margin, IMO."
Yeah, by a LARGE PRICE margin. And you'll have to upgrade the CPU, the GPU, the physics card, the motherboard and add more RAM periodically while console gamers only have to buy their hardware once while their games will still look great over the years. Not to mention PC gamers won't be able to play all those many exclusive PS3 and 360 games at all.

you idiot, dont turn this into a pc vs console war. they both have their niche.

Hey man, just because you can't afford to get both, don't be dissin PCs...

lol, physics card? learn to build computers before telling others how they are made... The PS3 is built to last 10 years, although computers may be increasing in power, developers will amount more time into the games for consoles (because if a console sells good, they will need games to support the platform) and remember, brute force and power does not make a computer "amazing" unless all next gen. computer games are built for that particular graphics card... meaning that if I buy a game and own an Nvidia graphixs card, the gaming experiance may differ grately from your ATI, because their may be things enabled wich can be processed within the GPU of your card wich mine cannot (in many cases vise versa) Computer hardware will always decrease in price due to its demand in workfields such as multimedia, surveing and so on... meaning in many cases, you can have a good time with considerably low amounts of money. as for the PS3, game developers will soon focus into its complex architecture and unleashe its full potential, yet most of its power is due to the programming rather the graphix card, because all PS3's will use the same one (meaning developers will isolate and comand variose executions untill they harnest its full throttle)... sorry for spelling errors.

hank88, you don't seem to know that future PC games will require a physics card for enhanced physics.
I'm afraid you are the one who is not up to date here.

I have a mid 2004 high end PC, three Sony consoles and two Nintendo consoles (plus 2 Sega consoles). I usually choose playing with my PS2 because it's the one I enjoy the most. I know fanboys tend to think people who disagree with them are little poor boys as blind as you are, but thankfully it is not my case.

You're the one who brought up the cost. And why call me a fanboy? I love my PS2 and will love my PS3...
And hank88, you are out of date. I built my PC and when the new PhysX card comes out, I'm most likely going to buy it.
