XCOM: Enemy Unknown has been out for a while now and has garnered a lot of praise from critics. So now, to award those who've stayed true and maybe suck in a few new players, Firaxis is giving us some free DLC. It's called "Second Wave" and mostly consists of stuff that you had to unlock in the game by beating the game or features that were abandoned during the game's development but remained tucked away within the code.
Here's the list of freebies included:
- New Economy: Randomized council member funding.
- Damage Roulette: Weapons have a wider range of damage.
- Not Created Equally: Rookies will have random starting stats.
- Red Fog: Combat wounds will degrade the soldier's mission stats.
- Hidden Potential: As a soldier is promoted, stats increase randomly.
- Absolutely Critical: A flanking shot guarantees a critical hit.
- Marathon: The game takes considerably longer to complete.
- The Greater Good: Psionics can only be learned by interrogating a psionic alien.
- Results Driven: A country offers less funding as its panic level increases.
- Diminishing Returns: Increased cost of satellite construction.
- High Stakes: Random rewards for stopping alien abductions.
- More Than Human: The psionic gift is extremely rare.
- E-115: Elerium degrades over time.*
- War Weariness: Funding goes down over time.*
- Total Loss: Lose all soldier gear upon death.*
- Alternate Sources: The power source cost to build facilities increases dramatically.*
*Obtainable upon completion of Impossible difficulty.
