XCOM delayed till 2013 |
Listed in: News Tags: e3, xcom delay, xcom enemy unknown, xcom release date

The upcoming XCOM took a step back from it's original series and brought the concept of alien warfare closer to home. Switching to a first person perspective with psuedo-tactical operations, the 2K Game looked to be a stunner. However, due to unforseen circumstances the game has been delayed for another year. Even with an impressive showing at E3 in 2011 the shooter will be pushed back and possibly to make way for the currently developed XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which is a classical reboot being developed by Firaxis; the team behind Civilization.
For fans of the old game XCOM is still scheduled for a release this year. Even if you're not a fan the old game still holds up and I do recommend people give it a try. I think you can even buy it from Steam if you so please. I trust 2K with the current decision as they gave the developers of Bioshock an extra amount of time and I think the results speak for itself with that title. XCOM could be the game of 2013, who knows, but I know there isn't much out this year that I'm looking forward to so far, except for possibly South Park The Game and a few downloadable titles.
