Why Skyrim is not an MMO title? |

Bethesda's Todd Howard has offered some more tidbits about Skyrim and explains the reason why, despite the notion that its such a massive game, was not made for the MMO market.
Howard recently spoke to Joystiq to discuss more details about Bethesda's hotly anticipated RPG sequel, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In the interview, Howard was asked why they decided not to include online components for the game, in which, he calmly replied:
"I like this kind of game better," he said. "You know, it's what most of us are into. I'm not really an MMO guy. I respect them, I look at them, but I don't play them. It feels more real to me when I'm the hero and it's crafted for that. A community aspect to it, I recognize a lot of people would want that in a game like this, but it changes the flavor for me.
He goes on to say: "The audience we have for our kind of thing is big enough that we don't have to tone it down. We can just do our thing, and it's kind of grown with each game. So there was no pressure from anybody above me to say 'Hey, you need to change this.'"
Howard also offered his opinion on the topic that most of their releases are either broken or buggy: "We try to solve most of it, we're sensitive to a lot of it. There is a subset of that where we say 'Well, that's what can happen.' If there's entertainment value in that, whatever it is, we'll leave a lot of it. If it's gonna break the game, or unbalance the game in some way, we do try to solve it. If the solution is gonna make the game less fun ... well, hey, leave it in," Howard said, before adding with a smile, "It's their game."
The fifth installment of The Elder Scrolls saga will be out on November 11, 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Last week, Bethesda confirmed that the first two DLC packs of the game will be releasing exclusively on Xbox 360, 30 days before it's available anywhere else.

Aside from that I'm glad these aren't MMOs.
I just wish there was co-op for 2-4 people.

I'd love to play an elder scrolls game with up to 3 of my friends - Can you imagine the shenanigans you could pull in a game like Skyrim with 4 player controlled characters working in tandem?
I can - that's why I don't bother getting out of bed some mornings. I know that if I open my eyes I'll have to once again accept the fact that co-op Elder Scrolls is just not an (uninhibited/bug-free) option.

Is it really smart to invest time and money into a game that he likes? He didnt have to through in an MMO but he could have had a feature where you could play with small groups of people.
Also Guild Wars 2 seems like they are making the type of MMO where the main character gets their own story.
