Where and When Should the Next Assassin’s Creed Game Go?

Assassin’s Creed  has nailed down free-running and sneaky stabbing, but one of the most interesting facets of the franchise has always been its interactions with history. While the game boasts plenty of mindless assassinating and exploring, there’s always a significant historical tone to each game, as well as cameos from some of the most famous names in our collective past.

We’ve explored renaissance Italy, hung out in Constantinople before it became Istanbul, and skulked around during the Third Crusade, but where are we going next? That’s just the question posed by a survey from Empire State Gamers, sent out to a bunch of Assassin’s Creed fans. The survey asks where gamers think the next game should take place and poses some interesting options.

Check them out:

  •
    • The violent conflicts of the Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China
    • The advent of the mighty British Empire during Victorian England
    • The culmination of the Pharaoh Reign in Ancient Egypt
    • The invasion of the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors
    • The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution
    • The overthrow of the Tsar Empire by the Communists during the Russian Revolution
    • The Warlord Battles in Feudal Japan
    • The rise of Cesar’s Empire in Ancient Rome

Of all these locations, I think the Tsar Empire and British Empire sound like the most plausible options. Sure, Ancient Egypt would be fun, as would the American revolution, but there isn’t much room for free running in those areas and times. At least, not in the scale we’ve seen in previous games. Then again, Ubisoft can always fudge the architecture a bit, right?

Which option do you think is the most interesting?

ancient egyptian would definitely be my 1st choice, since i love egyptian mythology, not so many games based on this mythology on the market nowadays, so it could be great if the next assassins could leap from the top of a pyramid, but maybe it sounds stupid and impossible rite:D maybe Rome empire sounds great too..n9e95

How about not making another AC game? The franchise is getting old with Brotherhood at its peak and Revelations is the downhill slope.

How about AC goes away for a long while. The one game per year turn around is ridiculous. And the game is played out.

I'd like to see Feudal Japan, but being so far away, I'm not sure how it could tie into the series...

I think the European Invasion of the Americas would be the most appropriate for the following reasons:

1. It is set AFTER Ezio's story arc (Chronological order).

2. The Mayan civilization were still alive (How do you think they found out about 2012? Piece of Eden anyone?)

3. The first game set in the Western World.

4. Mayans=Assassins, Conquistadors=Templars

But what I really want is for AC3 to be set in 2012 with Desmond as the Protagonist for once. It's about time for him to command the game. Besides, he has gained enough 'training' from Ezio and Altaïr to take on the role as main character.

Very true about Desmond. I wished the Desmond stories in Revelations would be more than a shitty version of portal with random narrations of his past adventures.

Brotherhood had some Desmond time at least.. but the game has to be set in 2012 in AC3 anyway, as well as extra animus revelations. I'd say the game should be 50/50 for both stories and have Desmond go off with his skills and save the world for real, not some computer simulation of him saving the world :P

It doesnt even have to be Desmond in the animus either.

Keep jumping up this article so we can get that Shippuden crap out of the top spot where it's been for over a year.

I hope that AC3 will be set in the near future and that will have Desmond as Protagonist.

@Aurèlio

In the Facebook Game about AC:Brotherhood ("Project Legacy") you learn that a "Piece of Eden", a Crystal Skull, was hidden at Tenochtitlan in South America, and Giovanni Borgia (the son of Cesare) bring it back to Europe.

@Shaman

Interesting, that's even one more reason for it to be set during colonial times. :-)

Egypt first choice and they could have a different twist on who built the pyramids would be crazy!

How are those more plausible than the rest? Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China could work, and is very plausible.. rather than trying to fudge up some story about an Assassin's Creed that existed during the Revolutions. Thats not plausible!

Medieval China would work, as would Feudal Japan and the rise of Cesar’s Empire. Though I'm tired of Rome. China or Japan would be nice, Tenchu Stealth Assassin's Creed!

I think victorian England would be awsome Egypt would be cool but not that many things to do there but jump off pyramids of japan at a later time but all ideas are great but id like to see them back off of rome since ac2 and brotherhood was there.

Paris during the French Revolution/Reign of Terror

Sufficiently chaotic and such for a real good time. It has to be after Ezio's story just as Ezio's was after Altair's. A new hero in the French Revolution would be awesome.

Modern day Desmond wouldn't be horrible either though.
