Warner Bros. Montreal Focused on Making GOOD Superhero Games |

Most superhero games that we've seen have been movie tie-in games or just rush jobs that do not meet expectations or straight up suck. Spider-Man 2: The Video Game was an actual good adaptation and Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was another good game, but it took Batman: Arkham Asylum's success for someone to finally take heed and recognize the amazing resource out there that is the wealth of characters and stories that have been published in superhero comics over the past several decades.
In an interview with Canadian Business, Warner Bros. Montreal studio head Martin Carrier said that it was Arkham Asylum that essentially led to the creation of a game studio seemingly focused on the superhero video game genre. He goes on to say that they are working hand-in-hand with DC Comics to create a variety of games based on different characters, reportedly dealing with DC heads Jim Lee and Geoff Johns quite often. It appears that they are focusing on the DC 52 relaunch of all the titles to mine some character ideas and plots. With so many of these old characters being rebooted and modernized, for better or worse, it seems like the perfect time to bring them over to be in some really great video games.
Carrier also said that the new studio started out with just a team of four last year, but they are looking to increase their force to 300 people by 2015. Their relationship with DC has also made recruitment even easier.
Why are comics such a goldmine? They come with a built-in audience. Everybody's heard of Superman and if you can make a good game based on him you don't have to worry about gambling on a new IP. It's pretty simple and if done right these new games should be awesome.

Let's face it, you can't have a decent superman game unless you take the MK vs DC route and make all the enemies wield magical weapons or kryptonite.
Though, I do see Spider-man doing quite well if it copied Batman since Batman's triangle is basically spider-sense.
Iron Man 2 was truly a huge letdown.
