1. Warner Bros. had an inkling on Mortal Kombat's R18+
2. On Aussie ban
Of all the people that were surprised that Mortal Kombat got banned in Australia, Warner Bros. would be the last in line considering that they already knew the game deserves to get an R18+ rating at the very least.

The main difference between this iteration of Mortal Kombat from the last one would be the definitive presence of blood and gore.

Explained Erin Piepergerdes, the game's Associate Producer, "This game is sort of an evolution of the series. Last time we did MK vs DC Universe and it was a teen rated title, so it didn't feature the fatalities -- it didn't have the blood and gore. We had some great iconic characters in it, but our fans really wanted us to go back to our roots. So that's exactly what we did."

"Obviously, the new consoles provide us with a lot of opportunities to do really over the top things. We have design meetings where people get together and just start brainstorming the craziest things you can imagine so that we can develop those fatalities and put them in the game. So it's a long evolving process."

too bad for australia having to miss out on this game. but props to the developers for sticking it out with their gut instincts. they were fully aware of the consequences, but they really wanted a game for a mature audience, so that's what the gamers will get.

So glad they didn't back pedal on this, just so some 13 some year olds can get there hands on this game. Can't wait to play this really now, and because of the rating hopefully I won't have to deal with some 12 year old cursing and telling bad "momma" jokes online
