Gas Powered Games, known for titles like Supreme Commander and Demigod, was in a pretty bad space. Its CEO, Chris Taylor, took to Kickstarter and attempted to raise $1.1 million to save the studio and keep it independent. Unfortunately, things just didn’t work out.

It’s not all doom and gloom, however. Wargaming.net, the studio behind the extremely popular World of Tanks, has stepped in and acquisitioned the flailing company. It’s unclear as to how exactly this will impact Chris Taylor or other Gas Powered Games staffers or projects, but the acquisition will at least keep some blood in the veins for the near future.

Wargaming.net has been on something of a warpath as of late, picking up Day 1 Studios and Big World in just the last few months. Perhaps Gas Powered Games is just the next step in its quest for world domination.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Wargaming or Gas Powered Games?

Wargaming is extending itself rapidly. Hope it doesn't backfire.
