Videogames Are Good For The Mind |
Listed in: News Tags: cognitive, research, videogame studies, videogames can help
Researchers at the University of Rochester found that decision making is greatly improved with those who play action-based videogames. And I mean greatly improved; they found that decision making times by action gamers were 25% higher than others, without sacrificing accuracy.

‘Practiced’ gamers were able to pay attention to more than six things at once without getting confused, while the average non-gamer can usually only follow four. I can attest to that; anyone who obsessively played The Sims with a household of four employed Sims will know how hectic even that can be, never mind the ‘surrounded by a group of individual men moving around the map and firing at me at once’ mayhem of an online shooter today.
Studies also found that female gamers were better able to mentally manipulate 3D objects, an attribute usually handed to men.
It’s always interesting to see the various institutes that conduct these studies regarding videogames and looking at their results compared with their intentions, and I’m waiting to read that catching Pokémon does increase sexiness.

Telekinesis?!?
I think I know why it was a normal attribute for men.
It must be because the TV channel changer is always somewhere far away, so the ability to get it while not moving was made subconsciously.

I hope those are the same researchers that discovered this over 20 years ago and you're just now finding it. If these are new researchers then they need to get a life and quit researching things that have already been researched.
Stupid people wasting money on nothing seems to be the new hip trend.
