US Congress wants PSN answers too |
Listed in: News, PlayStation Network Tags: Kazuo Hirai, Sony
A House of Representative subcommittee wants Mr. Hirai to answer a list of detailed questions, in their quest to find out more about the PSN hacking that took hold of the whole PSN community for the past week.

Said the letter, "We write today regarding the recent data breach experienced by Sony Corporation's PlayStation Network operated by Sony Computer Entertainment of America. According to Sony's statement, the breach occurred between April 17 and April 19, and impacted as many as 77 million account holders' personal information. A public acknowledgement of the breach was not made until APril 26."
Part of the things the subcommittee would want to know are questions on the type of data stolen by the hackers, and whether or not it did include any credit card information. They, as well as everyone else for sure, would also want to know if Sony has any knowledge as to the identity of the hackers, and when they reported the hack to the law enforcement.
Mr. Hirai is expected to reply to the inquiries by May 6th. The PlayStation Network has been down for almsot two weeks already, and nobody knows when it will get back online.

yeah really? You understand that gaming will fucking fall as hard as it can if this gets any worse you ungrateful moron. This won't just impact Sony. It will impact the entire scene. Yeah what they did was just as moronic as your bullshit comment there. But there trying, all of them are trying so if your a video game fan you oughta show a little bit more concern over the direness of this situation instead of allowing your fucktardedness fanboyism to show.

psp only sold for homebrew? i'd say that less than 10% of the ones that sold are hacked. how many thousands, if not millions, of kid out there just want to play games on a portable system?
ps3 has a small fan base? define "small" - as opposed to the entire population of the planet?
and how does the ps3 lack content? just about every game that comes out is released for every system, with the exception of maybe 10-15% of titles that are platform-exclusive, of which sony has several as well.

Brave little boy. You really dont understand what is happening here, apperantly.
Have you followed news lately? PS3 is hacked months ago...and what did Sony do?
They used their strength and money to fight people who opened up the machine. Yes? Do you get it? No money and work to defense for the flaw itself. Results?
OtherOS gone, PSN gone, and our UNENCRYPTED personal information gone.
The whole server was on a 4 year old Linux server, ffs! Is that security? For a multi million dollar company, Sony is lazy and arrogant.
And you, sir...are worse because your just like a Republican who is defending why people should have a gun in their pocket.
Die, Sony die. And i hope before you make any more mistakes.

Is that so? Then what about you? You want a corporation to be taken down and fall as hard as they possibly could. You didn't read my comment "he who thinks awesomely of himself". I don't and won't condone what Sony did, however, I don't want it affecting the entire gaming community which is something your mind can't seem to comprehend. Can you not see that that's what Sony wanted? They wanted to show the the "world" (hackers) that they would come after them because they didn't know how to fix the issue without having to shut off the entire PSN (which is where we're at right now). You accuse me of something you are hypocritically defending yourself. Good Job. Both you and I have shown the world how big of an asshole we both are. I applaud your intelligence as well as your belligerence. Adieu.

as for me who has a PS+ account, i could really careless if my information was stolen, because aside from the fact that my bank would without question refund all and any money that could possibly be stolen from me and just hand me a new card with a new number,
playstation 3 is the greatest console to date, and i love it, and love my PSP, and will love my future NGP

Maybe he is, I'm just trying to get the point across that this is a little bit bigger than Sony. It will affect all the game companies.

I don't care if the key to the servers was hanging on a pole outside a Sony building below a sign that read "Key to fucking with our shit - plz dun take, k?" - the fact of the matter is that shitheads robbed Sony (and us, in turn) and those are the shitheads to get mad at. Sony's not stealing your credit card information to sell off to people. Sony didn't buy the info back because that sends a clear signal to hackers that they can do it again and again because corporations will just keep paying to get the info back (even though the hackers would probably just keep copies of the info anyways). Seriously, what would you have done? Do you think the hackers are in the right here? Really?
If I break into your house and steal your money and some stuff you told your friends you'd hang onto, would it be right for your friends to blame you for getting robbed because you didn't have seventy-six bodyguards patrolling your property 24-hours a day? No - the douchebag who broke in through your bathroom window would be the one you'd want to hunt down.
FUCK OFF WITH THIS SHIT ALREADY. These hackers would've cracked any other company's servers if they had the motive to regardless of security measures. The only thing that is unhackable is the thing no one tries to hack.

All the 'hackers' from the past (Anon and Geohot) claim to have nothing to do with this and I believe them. However, I've also heard the rumor that the European hacker (German or something) that was being sued for 1 million Euros did it because his life was fucked anyway, so he wanted to screw everyone else over as well. But that's just what I heard.

Quoting $ony sucks:
Sony will never be taken down in the near future you idiot. Who cares if their GAMING system has been hacked or will be cancelled? What about all their other products that gain millions in profits? Movies, Televisions,Ele ctronics etc. Besides, most people do not even play Online or even buy things on the PSN with their actual credit card, which is why they have The PSN 20$+ Gift Card... because people know that there is a chance of it getting stolen....

they already stated it will be fixed on the first week of may
why do you post news without reading official announcements?
