Uncharted 3 over in 3 hours

Naughty Dog has been renowned for pulling out amazing and long lasting gameplay when it comes to their ten plus years of working in the games industry, but apparently a games tester working for The Dog (which is how I'll refer to them forever more) has said that the upcoming game (due to be released on Tuesday) will be over in a matter of hours if you play it right.

The director of the latest and possibly final iteration in the series, Justin Richmond, recently told Official Playstation Magazine that one of it's staffers who will remain anonymous, took on the game and clocked it in the time it takes to watch Dune (without killing yourself). The speed run was completed on Easy and with the anon tester being a beta tester, he was probably more than well versed on the game's many platforms, puzzles and plane crashes.

Not dissimilar to the Skyrim rumours earlier this month with that guy who clocked Skyrim in under two and a half hours. Whether or not it's two companies sizing up, I doubt it, as most games are, you know, remember, they're meant to be for fun. Who gives a crap how long it takes you to finish a game, as long as you're enjoying yourself.

That being said if you're reviewing a new game, you do tend to have to rush through it, which is why most reviews are contextually biased when it comes to how much they get with storyline or actual enjoyment, much like their life...reviewers probably don't deserve pity, just a thought.

well an IGN editor said that they finished it in 3 hours too but in the easiest level.

its a nice game but its not as perfect as the IGN review for this game, the review was made by a fanboy and it was very bias.

Uncharted 3 is one of the great games for this year, but its not the best one.

my money is on Arkham City.

lol qj looks like some xbox 360 fanboys now a days, this article was on ign already, a nd dev beat it in 3 hours to see the possible fastest speedrun, ign said they got through it in just over 8 hours already so it shows you, just like skyrim, but do you really think a regular person will get even close to 20 hours in there first playthrough. remember nd devs have ran each section of the game about 100 times a piece. they know exactly what to do to past somewhere the fastest, exactly the enemy spond points, uncharted 2 was beat by a nd dev with just 20 mins more taken and remember 2 this is skipping the story 2 so imagine 8+ hours, cuz ign said they did it on easy in 8 hours, and it goes up from there

It's a game tester who literally knows the game inside and out. It is not unusual for someone to be able to do that when they've tested each puzzle thoroughly and played through versions of it numerous times. Have you ever gone back and played UC2 again? Games that invlove puzzles always are quickly completed the more and more you play them, this guy probably skipped all the story scenes as well.

yeah a developer who had to do with the game on a daily basis for years, someone who probably knows every corner of the game better than his penis, managed to finish it in about 3 hours. This totally justifies to bash the game.
nice one QJ, you again mananged to show your lack of skill in only a short time.

They prolly put most of their focus on MP.

But then again, the people who played it prolly rushed through the game on the easiest setting and didn't get any of the artifacts or things like that. Prolly skipped through the scenes also.

Yeah, who cares if you're having fun, but when you spend 60 bucks on a 3 hour game .. I remember when Ocarina of Time cost like 54.99 on N64. I'm still playing it. Why? Cause it's that good. Name one 3, 4 hour game that you'll play in 5, 10 years. And I don't mean like Mortal Kombat, which has tons of unlockables and goodies and secrets to discover, not to mention the amazing offline multiplayer.

Relax people, you will not beat Uncharted 3 in 3 hours, this was a speedrun in the easiest setting (which makes you almost immortal), skipping the cutscenes and solving the puzzles on the first try.

There is a video on youtube of a guy beating Dark Souls in one hour in a half, and I ask anyone that have already beaten the game, how long did it took you?

Besides, if you still find the singleplayer too short, you can also enjoy the multiplayer that have hours and hours of fun waiting for you.

Yeah if anyone can beat UC3 in 3 hours on their first playthrough deserves their money back. But that most likely won't happen :)

A GAME TESTER (SOMONE WHO PLAYS GAMES FOR A LIVING) A PERSON WHO HAS PLAYED UNCHARTED 3 MANY MANY TIMES, PLAYED THIS GAME ON EASY. people are stupid. its like me speed running through the alphabet and having a kid do it or the first time. this games is not 3 hours its impossible for the average person. this site is starting to be a little iffy. twisting words. if i sound upset its because i am IM a proud supporter of uncharted and for articles like this to surface and confuse people into not buying it pisses me off

I'm probably looking at 10-13 hours for a first playthrough on hard myself. That's tracking down every last treasure as well. Speed run is blazing through the game as fast as you can doing as little as possible. not by any means a sign of the actual time it would take to seriously play through it or the quality of the game.

Hopefully it's just as long as the other games which seemed reasonably long. It does seem to be a trend lately of games being rushed out with little content. I just recently bought and beat the Force Unleashed 2 and I couldn't believe how short that game was. I feel like once a game develops a good fan-base it has a good chance of having a sequel thrown together in a short amount of time, not saying this is the case for Uncharted 3. But really, maybe if they would stop telling us when games are going to come out months or literally years before they are due to come out they could make quality games without worrying about meeting a deadline. If you create a quality game it's going to sell well, you don't need a year+ of rumors, ads, teasers and character leaks/info leaks to make people buy it. It's not like this is the movie business where only a few movies can stay in the theaters at one time.

I've already finished normal mode in UC3
Took me about 9 hours.
Great game btw!

Playing easy right now, i think anyone can finish it in 3 - 4 hours on easy mode

The guy completed it already knowing the solution to all the puzzles and had the difficulty on easy so the enemies would be easy to kill quickly resulting in quick playthrough...DUH!
