Uncharted 3 devs keeping Drake grounded |

Creative director Amy Hennig explains in a recent interview with Gamespot just how exactly they do that. "If somebody comes up with an idea that seems like it fits, and you see everybody sort of spark on that, that's meaningful."
"On the other hand, if somebody comes up with an idea that maybe would be awesome in another game, but everybody's kind of like 'meh'... that's meaningful too."
Hennig also reealed that adlibbing is very much encouraged from the cast, and fortunately, the script allows for that to come out naturally. Ultimately, their goal is to keep up with the traditions of pulp adventure while telling "a story about believable characters who are flawed and charming and all the things that go along with that."
As for Drake appearing like a superhero of sorts, Hennig says they're not up for that. "The adventure genre is more about kind of groundedness, and there's a sort of retro aspect to it without making it old-fashioned and corny. We always have to check ourselves to make sure we're not making a kind of modern action movie."
