Twisted Metal To Require Online Pass |
Listed in: News Tags: David Jaffe, twisted metal, twisted metal online pass
David Jaffe, creator of Twisted Metal, had said he hoped that the PS3 incarnation wouldn't have an online pass system, as multiplayer is the game’s focus, and getting online should be as easy and problem-free as possible. Sony, on the other hand, has opted for one nonetheless, meaning that the game will come with a single-use code that you enter in order to play the game online.

Does this make second hand copies useless? No, it just makes them $10 pricier than what’s on their price tag, as that’s the price you’ll have to pay if you don’t have an online code and want to play online. Looking at things from multiple angles, I don’t see the point in this. It’s not to combat piracy, it doesn't raise the game’s price and it doesn't make new copies much more beneficial.
Who knows? Either way, it’s something to keep in mind for you guys looking forward to the reawakening.

Im picky on certain games,i tend to wait for 2for1 specials,or just plain get the game new (on certain games again),sometime s its not having the luxury to spend on new all the time its actually the quality that games put out.I give Jaffe respect to give insight as what he wants, especiall y expressing the focus on multiplayer but Sony had other priorities.

And this is hardly newsworthy as pretty much all major titles will be having this now. The publishers see it as easy money so why would they stop it?

I'd be willing to bet they didn't even think to approach sstores to strike up a deal on preowned games.

They need to introduce a plan for second hand games where they pay the company for every copy they buy back to stop this disturbing trend of "Online Pass" That or give me an INCENTIVE to buy it new, not take away a feature if I don't.
You're punishing the consumer for the second hand games market instead of the companies making sick profits from it.
Consumers will always want to save a buck when they can, it's our nature. Don't punish us for wanting to do so.

Think. The first 2 weeks to month of a games release are basically 100% NEW Sales. Then it starts dipping and dipping drastically every week after that. As that dips thats less for the DEV.
There is only 1 WAY I buy used. If the game is OOP and you cannot get a new copy from Walmart, Gamestop, TArget, Best Buy, etc.
Also, if you are talking about saving money. Then shop for your games on Amazon. You can 90% of the time buy the game NEW there for cheaper than used at Lamestop. And since its SOLD and shipped from them its a win for you and a win for the dev.

And if a game doesn't make it's money back in the first month then it's clearly not a game worth buying, which means the DEVS need to improve to stay alive.
I mean look at all the studios being shut down lately. Ever noticed they shut down AFTER major publishers buy them? All because the publishers get greedy and don't see the sales figures that they want, they shut down developers teams.

On the bright side, I've already saved a ton not buying Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, SOCOM 4 (Mostly because it sucked, lol) and now Twisted Metal.

you're just as dumb--if not stupider--as those who complain about buying a worthless $60 game without trying it out first.
