Sony, for their part, is moving to have the injunction lifted, scheduling a hearing with the civil court of justice at Hague tomorrow. Analysts are of the opinion that LG, meanwhile, will move for the PS3 units to be destroyed. Yes, all of them. This isn't sure yet, though, but it's a probable stance that LG could take.

If Sony is proven guilty of infringing on LG's Blu-ray patents, then they might have to be compelled to pay up LG for every single PS3 unit they sold since its launch. That's a whole lot of money seeping out from Sony's money hole right there.
"Sony was notified at the end of February by customs authorities in the Netherlands that an inspection would be made into imports of [PlayStation 3s]. We believe this is due to a petition made by LG Electronics, alleging that Sony may be infringing LG patents related to Blu-ray technologies.
However, this is only a preliminary injunction, that has resulted in shipments being temporarily withheld. It does not indicate any acceptance of LG's allegations. We consider these allegations unwarranted, and will take appropriate measures including filing a claim of opposition to courts in the Netherlands. We will not comment on any further details."
The US Internatinal Trade Commission has also granted the Korean company the permission to carry out their investigation regarding their claim on Sony's alleged patent infringement. Prior to that, they have also sought for a "permanent exclusion order...excluding entro into the United States" of the PS3.

Your saying it's LGs and the courts fault Sony infringed patents, stealing other company's intellectual property?

But I seriously doubt it would come to that: I can't imagine they'd actually seize bought-and-payed-for units from people's homes. More likely they'd simply make Sony pay a fine or royalties on units sold.

Sony is going to have to answer a ton of complains of people who get their console taken away. Its their(sony) product not LG.

It's not GREAT that the PS3 units should be destroyed (recycled for sure)or does that mean the same thing?
Anyway...Its hard to comprehend how Ps3's already sold to people COULD be confiscated is beyond me!!!
It's not like they are a Health Hazard like exploding laptop batteries is it?????????
So theres SONY claiming that Geohot & party are UPTO NO GOOD.....and then this new info hits the press that SONY are UPTO NO GOOD!!!!!What a Fukin'JOKE all round....I buy stuff and I get stuff at no extra cost....But recently I haven't bought anything BRAND NEW for years...It's pointless....USED is just as practical...or more so......Hell of a lot cheaper too!
I dearly hope that this affair really damages SONY beyond redemption...they deserve it.
