The video game adaptation of the God of Thunder is also going 3D for next-gen consoles this summer.
Sega has revealed more details of the upcoming video game adaptation of the Thor film, Thor: God of Thunder, and just like Cap's latest adventure, this one will also feature eye-popping stereoscopic 3D graphics for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
In Thor: God of Thunder, players will "battle through numerous worlds of Norse mythology to overcome monstrous foes lifted from the pages of the comics including Ulik, Ymir, and Surtur in conflicts that span realms ranging from primal worlds of fire and ice to extraordinary planets inhabited by Frost Giants, Trolls, and other monstrous denizens," reveals the press release. "Players will wield the iconic Mjolnir, Thor’s legendary hammer, to fight enemies on an immense scale while controlling the elemental storm powers of lightning, thunder, and wind to vanquish foes."
According to Sega, "each version of the game will be uniquely suited for its platform," with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions featuring cinematics, third-person action gameplay with melee combos, ranged hammer throws, tide-turning elemental powers, and an upgrade system to bolster Thor’s powers on top of the 3D support. The Nintendo Wii version of the game will feature the same storyline as the next-gen consoles, but will also offer gamers a different experience by utilizing the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. It will also be presented with a uniquely styled comic book look that will be the same as the PSP installment, along with some exclusive cinematics, story elements, dialog, locations, and dedicated flight levels. The Nintendo DS version on the other hand will be a 2D side-scrolling adventure with narrative and gameplay unique to the platform.
Thor: God of Thunder is slated for release on May 3, 2011.
