The Last of Us Took the Place of a New Jak and Daxter

In a recent interview, Evan wells, co-president of Naughty Dog, said that before the developer "explored the idea pretty extensively" about bringing Jak & Daxter back. He also said that they thought of taking what they learned from Uncharted and applying it to J & D, which sounds pretty awesome. But ultimately they thought that it would be a "disservice" right now to jump back into that franchise because they wouldn't be able to give the fans what they wanted. whatever that means.

Though they're moving in a new direction with their nascent IP The Last of Us, they haven't ruled out returning to Jak & Daxter. Wells says that "the Uncharted team could move on to Jak & Daxter" but then he also says that he doesn't think that's going to happen because that team would run into the same problems that the team working on The Last of Us did.

I'm not really sure what any of this means, but it sounds like they feel like massive changes are needed to Jak & Daxter if they are going to dive back into the franchise ever again. For now, J & D fans can look forward to the Jak & Daxter HD Collection, which is out today in North America.

I could explain why it would be hard for Naughty Dog to create the next Jak, but in doing so I'll be spoil the awsome ending of the third game.

Now, about the problems the team had with creating a new Jak...that would be the fact that Jak is cartoonish, while Uncharted and the new IP are photo-realistic. It would be easy to implement Uncharted based weapons usage and wall climbing and such, but it won't look amazing in a caroonish game. There is also the problem of greatness. Naughty Dog aspires to always outdue themselves, which is a great thing. But how can they outdue themselves again with Jak when they cannot even make use of the PS3 hardware to make Jak more appealing?
BTW I don't understand why Naughty Dogs don't want to touch the "perfect Jak series" yet allowed another company to create the crappiest game in the series (which is supposed to be a sequel to 3). Shame on them.

Good thing, I was never a fan of talking animals (Besides sonic) and weird looking men. GOOD MOVE!
