The Last of Us Director Talks Influences |
Listed in: News Tags: Naughty Dog, SCE, the last of us

The Last of Us gets dismissed as another zombie game by some, but the game's real focus seems to be on salvaging individual humanity amidst an apocalypse. Sounds very Walking Dead, doesn't it? That's appropriate, because according to the Director's Video Blog below, The Walking Dead comic was a major influence on them. Also in the list of influences are 28 Days Later, Children of Men, Y the Last Man (!), and The Road novel. That's a great list; let's hope The Last of Us can keep up with it.
Besides the director's blog vid, Naughty Dog has also put out some behind-the-scenes video featuring mo-cap performance from the two main stars and W. Earl Brown, who is probably best known as lovable murderer Dan Doherty from Deadwood. It's nothing you haven't seen in other mo-cap vids, but you get the sense that these actors really enjoy doing this. It looks like an exercise from drama class.
But still, no release date yet? Bummer.
Anyhoo, check it all out and let us know if you're interested in checking out The Last of Us.
