TGS 2011: Kojima confirms original project for PS3 and Vita |

Kojima, at the Tokyo Game Show, confirmed that he will be working on an original game for both the PlayStation 3 and the PS Vita. How involved is he going to be for this project? Well, very much, as it turns out, considering that he's not only designing the game, he'll also be directing it.

He does, however, keep his mouth shut on specifics about this new project, though, so for now it remains a mystery. What we do know for sure is that it's not going to be another Metal Gear title. Personally, I am glad that he's breaking away from the Metal Gear franchise. Don't get me wrong, it's had an awesome run. It's just that, I think Kojima's done all he could for it, and that if only for the sake of his own personal growth as a developer, he should be working on something else by now.
No doubt, he knows what it takes to be a develoepr in today's industry, anyway, so we have no doubt he'll be successful in whatever endeavor he takes on. At least he's not turning his back on development as we thought he would. If you'll remember, he tweeted some very cryptic posts on his Twitter, saying how a year's worth of work was made meaningless. Maybe this has something to do with that. If that's the case, then it seems that all turned out fine, seeing as how development is now in full swing for his new original title.
