Tekken Tag Defeats Itself

Note: Some of you assumed from this article that I'm complaining. Let me just note that I'm not and I'm a little baffled as to why everyone seems to think so! Tekken rocks. ~ pham

What’s the point of Tekken Tag? ‘It’s 2 vs 2. It’s a tag team battle.’ people may tell you.

Well Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2, that is simply…not true! The Japanese arcade game had a trailer released today (you’ll have to wait a bit before you get a console release) showing some features.

One of the features was 1 vs 2, which seems like icing on the bun for ‘Survival Mode’ fans like myself. The trailer then pushes things a little further and shows a 1 vs 1 mode.

Wait, what?

That’s right, 1 vs 1. In other words, a non-tag battle. This defeats the purpose of Tekken Tag, and I can’t see what Tekken 7 can bring to the table to make people hand over money for it now., as Tekken Tag looks to be the most complete Tekken yet!

The game has more than enough characters and moves, and all I can see them doing is some cross-over titles with other fighting games.

Oh, wait.

The first Tekken Tag Tournament had the *exact* same features. (2-vs-1 & 1-on-1) From the way I see it, they're only putting modes back in that were already present in the first installment. Besides, as a new Tekken game, it still features new moves and changes/modifications to each character. So some hardcore fans are still going to want to play 1-on-1 vs matches with the characters in the new installment since its not necessarily going to be the same exact thing as playing with those same characters who were present in Tekken 6.

I dont understand what youre trying to say. I understand the video and was in japanese, but not you. Tekken Tag Tournament also have a 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 and a bowling game, and then release Tekken 4, soooooo, whats your point?

I hate to sound negative but I don't see how extra features included in a game would be a downside to purchasing it. It makes allot more since to include 1 vs 1 fighting in the game for fans of the series. Do you honestly think it is more appropriate to swap discs just to change the fighting mode of the game?

i hope this is the last tekken you buy mr pham so we dont get dick heads like you complaining that we can have a choice in what modes we play in a fighting game. jesus christ i swear some people wanna pay for a game with less features. i for one love this i mean dont get me wrong tag is great but i would like to change it up and dont tell me to play t6 when this is clearly going to have more characters and a revised system.

What did I say to give off the vibe that I'm complaining? The only two lines I can see that air any opinion were 'This may be the last Tekken I ever need to buy', and 'This looks to be the most complete Tekken yet!'
Both are positive (unless complete means 'shit'!). :)

The US version of tekken tag tournament DID have 1 on 1. The Asia version didn't but the US version did.! this won't be the first tekken with 1 on 1. Smh at you tekken noobs....

Never once did Mr. Pham complain, in fact, he's simply outlining the fact that this game pretty much has everything a Tekken needs and doesn't see how A newer Teken could top it.

Most of the time they add something new to the gameplay, or change graphic engine, or simply new characters. Thats why Tekkken 4 to TTT 2 exist. Not all companies do this, specially one that start with A and end on N that every year make a copy paste of their franchise.

I hate Tekken.

LOOK ITS MY OPINION ON THE ARTICLE. YOU SHOULD PUT IT IN THERE. Tekken never was my cup of tea. It was always Mortal Kombat. About two people care about me not liking Tekken, and they're probably fans from back in the day. But my opinion just makes people angry. But you put your opinions in articles. Why not put mine?
