Target discounts PS3 big time |
Listed in: News Tags: Sony, target
Do take note, though, that the US$ 100 off is just the least of what you can get. In order to avail of this, you must purchase a Blu-ray movie, upon which you will be given the gift card of US$ 100. This gift card must be specifically used for a PS3 only, though.

On top of that, if you do buy your PS3 with that gift card, you will be getting another US$ 60 gift card, which you can then add up to your purchase of the PS3. Making math easy for you, that means you can get a whopping US$ 160 off the normal retail price of a 160GB PS3, currently at US$ 299.
That means, you can get your PS3 for a massively cheap US$ 140! Deals like this definitely don't come by often, so you'd be missing out on a lot of if you don't grab this quick. Target's running it for this week only, so what are you waiting for? Get your PS3 now! PSN service not guaranteed included.

I would guess that, since a coupon printer is involved, there should be some sort of coupon lookup that the cashier can do, so if they don't know what you're talking about, ask them to check their computer.

I've seen people say you need to buy a blu-ray, one or two people have said you need to buy two blu-rays, and one person reported that the coupon prints randomly when you buy any item from electronics--meaning that if your purchase includes something from electronics, when the cashier totals it out, there's a chance that the coupon for the $100 gift card toward a ps3 will print. They guy who told the story said the cashier hooked him up by cancelling and rescanning his purchase until the coupon printed for him. Again, this is one guy's story and I haven't seen anybody else corroborate so take it with a grain of salt. I'm not in the market for another ps3 right now so I won't be testing this but if anybody does and can confirm it, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be grateful.

That said, some people have managed to combine the offers because the cashier went ahead and did it without knowing that they're not supposed to. One guy was apparently hassled by the managers but since they'd already completed the transaction, he had the gift cards and receipt in his pocket and the ps3 was paid for, it was too late for them to back out (they tried to tell him to give the gift cards back but he refused). So anyway, in all likelihood, the best you're gonna' be able to manage is $100 gift card after buying the ps3, but if you're lucky/sneaky you might be able to pull off the $160, but either way, you can't use them toward the purchase of the ps3.

I used the $60 gift card to pick up an HDMI cable, SSF4, Vanquish, and Buzz quiz world in Target's clearance rack for $15 each.
I'm holding onto the $100 card until Infamous 2 drops

the $100 is real and confirmed by a Target employee, but is only on certain titles. So all of you that had success please share the title of the blu-ray movie you got with the discount.

This is 100% true. My buddy went to target yesterday right after reading this post. He bought a blu ray disk (Iron Man i think) and when he paid for it the coupon didn't come right out so he had the cashier do it a few more times and it eventually got him the $100 gift card PLUS the $60). You may need to press the sales people or managers a bit but its definitely true as he walked out of target with the $160 off
